2026-27 Finals Schedule Update

This school year, Oshkosh North and Oshkosh West High Schools will use an updated

end-of-semester (finals) schedule. We are moving from our historical three-day semester exam

period to a two-day academic credit recovery model.

Following a review of our testing practices last year, this plan was presented to the OASD

Education Committee. District and school leaders made the decision to implement the revised

schedule as a one-year pilot program for this school year. Click the link below to see the communication that was sent out to Parents, Guardians and Students on 11/5/26.

School Safety Feedback Session: Next Steps for Oshkosh North

Dear North Families,

Following last month’s safety incident here at Oshkosh North High School, we know firsthand how deeply safety, communication, and emotional well-being impact our students, staff, and families.

As our school community continues to process what happened, we want to ensure you have a dedicated space to share your thoughts, ask questions, and offer feedback on potential safety enhancements.

We invite you to join us for a Parent and Community Safety Feedback Session:

  • Date: Thursday, November 12th

  • Time: 5:00 – 6:00 PM

  • Location: Media Center

During this session, we will gather feedback on three specific measures currently under evaluation across the district:

1) The use of metal detectors and security wands in schools

2) Clear backpacks

3) Requiring the use of lockers - not allowing backpacks and coats in classrooms

How Your Feedback Will Be Used

This meeting is designed to listen to our North families - your perspectives, questions, and ideas. I will take our collective feedback directly to the OASD Executive Team and Emergency Preparedness Collaborative Operations Team (EPCOT), alongside input being gathered from our staff and students, to inform their ongoing evaluation of district safety policies.

Thank you for your voice, your partnership, and your continued care for our Oshkosh North community.

ACT Scores and Requirements

Many times students ask what score they need on the ACT. Although there is no single universal ACT score required for schooling after high school, the score you need depends entirely on the type of school you want to attend. Also remember that although some schools do not require an ACT score, a higher score on the ACT can make you eligible for scholarships by the school.

Here is some 4 year college information:

  • National Average: Around 19.4 (based on recent national data).

  • Open-Admission/Priviate Colleges: Many accept scores between 16 and 20 (or have no test requirement at all).

  • State Universities and Public Colleges: Competitive scores typically range from 21 to 29, depending on the program.

  • Selective and Top-Tier Universities (Ivy League, etc.): Competitive scores usually fall between 31 and 35+ (the top 5% to 10% of test-takers).

But instead of aiming for a random score on the ACT, look for the middle 50% score range (the 25th to 75th percentile of admitted students) published on your target college’s admissions page.

  • If your score is above the 75th percentile, it strengthens your application and scholarship chances.

  • If your score is below the 25th percentile, you may want to retake the test or apply test-optional if the school offers it.

Another option that many students choose is the Fox Valley Technical College (FVTC). Although you do not need an ACT score to be accepted into FVTC, doing well on the ACT will allow you to waive some placement tests. An ACT score of 18 or higher in Math, Reading, or English can be used to satisfy academic readiness benchmarks and waive standard placement tests (like the ACCUPLACER) for specific general education or prerequisite courses.
