Principal's Message
Greetings Bruin families-
A reminder that there will be no school on Monday in observance of Presidents Day.
On Wednesday, we’re excited to host Bruin Night! This event is a fantastic opportunity for students and families to explore the courses offered at BCHS, while incoming freshmen can get a first look at our campus. It’s a great evening filled with fun activities, prizes, food trucks, and participation from all of our staff. We hope to see you there!
In celebration of Black History Month, we’ll be hosting a lunchtime Knowledge Bowl on Friday—a fun and engaging way to learn and reflect.
A special shout-out to our Employees of the Week, Kathryn Loya Mahan and Sarah Wingo! Your dedication and hard work keep our school running smoothly, and we appreciate all that you do.
Looking ahead, we are transitioning to a 7-period schedule next year. We will continue to share updates as more details become available.
There’s a lot of great information and resources below, so please take a moment to check them out.
Go Bruins!
Warm regards,
Julie Hummel

Staff Members of the Week are Mrs. Kathryn Loya Mahan and Ms. Sarah Wingo
Mrs. Kathryn Loya Mahan is our athletic administrator but has also worked as a para in the classroom. She manages schedules, coordinates events, and ensures all student-athlete paperwork is complete and compliant. Kathryn's communication skills keep parents, coaches, and staff informed, creating a smooth flow of operations within the athletic department. Her attention to detail and commitment to supporting student success make her an invaluable part of the team.Today she not only works to keep athletic students and coaches up to date and on track for sports, but helps run all our athletic events and so much more. She helps with many other events that happen here on campus as well. She always steps in to help with powder puff, senior night activities, freshman orientation, Bruin nights and much more. We cannot say enough about the Bruin Pride she exhibits every day. Thank you Ms Mahan for all you do for the BC Community.
Ms. Sarah Wingo can be found almost every morning and afternoon cleaning the student parking lot and because of this it looks a lot better. All Seniors are required to fill out one of the applications. Don't miss out, Priority Deadline is March 3, 2025.
In California, completing either a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or a CADAA (California Dream Act Application) is required by law for all graduating high school seniors, meaning it is mandatory to submit one of these applications to the state unless a formal opt-out waiver is filed; this requirement is enforced through state legislation, specifically the California Education Code Section 51225.7.
Please use the resources below to learn more about FAFSA or CADDA and what form would be best for you.
Assessment, Research, and Evaluation (ARE) Department
Dear Lodi USD Parent/Guardians,
Every year, California students take several statewide tests. When combined with other measures such as grades, class work, and teacher observations, these tests give families and teachers a more complete picture of their child’s learning. You can use the results to identify where your child is doing well and where they might need more support. Your child may be taking one or more of the following:
- California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP)
- English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC)
- Physical Fitness Test (PFT)
To see the full information on the above assessments, please visit our Assessment, Research, and Evaluation (ARE) Department website. Please select the Annual Notification of Testing, 2024-2025 link.

Have you ever lost it for no apparent reason? Do you ever feel overwhelmed and completely shut down? That's your stress response system going off too often.
Built-up emotions like anxiety, anger, and sadness are all connected to your stress response. These emotions and unhelpful thought patterns can build up until you hit a breaking point.
