Dear Fisler Families,

What a wonderful first week of school we have had at Fisler! It has been so much fun welcoming our students back to campus, visiting classrooms, and seeing our students reconnect with friends and teachers. There is already such a positive energy across our school, and I am excited about the year ahead.

We have another busy and exciting week coming up. Our PTSA plays such an important role in supporting our students, staff, and school community. If you have not already joined PTSA, I hope you will consider becoming a member this year. Also, please join us for our first PTSA meeting of the year at 4:00 p.m. in the MPR. Everyone is welcome, and we would love to have you there and have your voice be part of our Fisler community.

We are also looking forward to welcoming our families to campus for Back to School Night this week. Our Middle School Back to School Night will be held Wednesday, August 19, from 5:00–6:15 p.m. Sixth-grade families will meet in the MPR, while seventh- and eighth-grade families will meet in classrooms. Our TK–5th Grade Back to School Night will be held Thursday, August 20. We will offer two sessions so families with multiple children have an opportunity to visit classrooms. Session 1 will be from 5:00–5:35 p.m., and Session 2 will be from 5:40–6:15 p.m. Back to School Night is a wonderful opportunity to meet your child’s teacher, learn more about classroom expectations and routines, and hear about the learning ahead this year.

I will be out at the beginning of the week, as I head north to help move my oldest son, James, into the dorms at Cal Berkeley. I am incredibly excited for him and, as you can probably imagine, feeling all the emotions that come with sending your first child off to college. I am grateful to have the opportunity to help him get settled as he begins this next chapter. I will see you all later in the week!

Thank you for such a wonderful start to the school year. I am so appreciative of our Fisler families, staff, and students and all that each of you brings to our community. I look forward to an incredible year of learning, connection, growth, and plenty of joy along the way. Have a wonderful week, Fisler!

Warmly,

Caroline Llewellyn, Ed.D.

FSD Policy for Personal Cell Phones and Devices

The Fullerton School District (FSD) Board of Trustees approved Board Policy 5131.8 two years ago, which helps establish district-wide rules around the use of personal mobile devices by students when they are at school. You can review the policy HERE. We will be sharing these rules with students during our PBIS rotations and review of school expectations. Please also review them with your child.

PBIS Behavior Matrix

Please review our PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Supports) Matrix (PBIS(긍정적 행동 개입 지원) 매트릭스) with your child(ren). The matrix outlines the behavior expectations we want all Fisler students to demonstrate throughout the school day.

This week, we have been explicitly teaching and practicing these expectations with all students, and every student will attend a PBIS Assembly to learn more about our schoolwide behavior standards. Thank you for partnering with us to reinforce these expectations at home and at school. Let’s make sure our Navigators are showing KSRR—Kind, Safe, Respectful, and Responsible—wherever they go!

Lunch Drop-Off and Rules

Please ensure that your child does not bring soda, candy, or any other food to share with other students. Due to allergies and dietary restrictions, we need to prioritize the safety of all students. Additionally, please refrain from using DoorDash or similar services for lunch deliveries. Refer to the Parent/Student Handbook for lunch policies.. Additionally, please ensure that you drop off your child’s lunch on time and place it on the appropriate grade level cart in the office. Thanks for following our expectations and policies.

Still Time to Buy a Laptop

Costco is currently offering a great deal on the MacBook Neo for $689.99! If you’re considering purchasing a laptop for your child, this is a great opportunity to get an Apple laptop at a great price.

If you decide to purchase one, simply bring the laptop to our technicians, and we can help set it up for your child to use at school.

School Site Council Parent Representatives Needed

Robert C. Fisler School is currently seeking parents who are interested in serving on our School Site Council (SSC). This is a wonderful opportunity to have a voice in important decisions that support our students, staff, and school community. Our School Site Council reviews student achievement data, provides input on school needs and priorities, helps develop and monitor our School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA), and reviews the school site budget. Parent perspectives are an important part of this work, and we would love to have interested family members consider serving. SSC members serve a two-year term. If you are interested in nominating yourself to serve on Fisler’s School Site Council, please complete this nomination FORM by Sunday, August 23, 2026. If we receive more nominations than available positions, a parent election will be held. Thank you for considering this opportunity to become more involved and help support the continued success of our Fisler community!

Coming Soon: Fisler Arts and Recreation Center Advisory Committee

Exciting things are ahead at Fisler! As we begin planning for our new Arts and Recreation Center, we will soon be forming an advisory committee made up of parents and/or community members, staff, and students. This committee will provide input and perspective as we move forward with this exciting new building to our campus. We look forward to bringing together voices from across our Fisler community to help shape the future of this new space. Interested in being part of the conversation? Look for more information about the committee and how to get involved in our August 30 newsletter.

F²AST

Hello Fisler Families,

FAST has a couple important things coming up this year. Here’s what’s happening first:

MOVIE NIGHT: Sept 18

This is always a fun event, and it’s a great first event for the school community. Bring blankets and camping chairs. FAST will have food for sale and all the proceeds go straight back into supporting the school.

  • We're expanding this into a bigger all-school gathering this year

  • Movie TBD, but it will be appropriate for kids of all ages

  • Some of our corporate sponsors will be there. This is a good way to get to know the local businesses that support our kids.

SCIENCE OLYMPIAD

FAST has sponsored Fisler's Science Olympiad team for more than 10 years — and this year we're taking it to another level.

Science Olympiad lets middle school students go deep in the sciences and gain real engineering and problem-solving experience. It's also a genuine team experience, the kind that sticks with kids well beyond the science itself.

** Be aware: it's a real time commitment. But students who lean in get a lot back, and FAST is fully committed to growing and improving this program.

The team is led this year by our new middle school science teacher, Mr. Albert Soliguen, alongside Mr. John Gustafson, with special assistance from a couple of dedicated Fisler parents (more on that soon).

Want to learn more? Take a look at the informational packet below, and contact your homeroom teacher or Mr. Soliguen with any questions. FAST members will also be at Back to School Night to talk about how FAST supports Science Olympiad and how you can get involved.

Counselor's Corner

Hi Fisler Families!

My name is Carolyn Conley, and I am so excited to be your School Counselor at Robert C. Fisler! This is my 6th year with Fullerton School District, and I feel very lucky to be part of such a wonderful school community.

As your school counselor, my goal is to help students feel safe, connected, supported, and ready to learn. I work with students individually, in small groups, through classroom lessons, and in collaboration with teachers and families.

How I Support Students

Some of the areas I can help students with include:

  • Building friendships and social skills

  • Managing worries, stress, and big emotions

  • Problem-solving and conflict resolution

  • Self-confidence and positive self-talk

  • Coping skills and emotional regulation

  • Adjusting to changes or transitions

  • School and academic concerns

  • Connecting students with additional support when needed

I also provide social-emotional learning lessons and classroom support throughout the school year.

Supporting Our Families

Sometimes families need support that goes beyond what we can provide at school. I am happy to help families identify and connect with outside community resources when appropriate, including counseling and mental health services, family support programs, academic resources, and other community-based services.

If you are unsure where to start, please reach out! You do not have to know exactly what resource you need. We can work together to figure out the next best step for your family.

My Door Is Open!

I look forward to getting to know our students and families and being a resource throughout the school year. My goal is to help every student feel that they belong, have someone they can talk to, and have the support they need to succeed.

I’m excited for a wonderful year together!
