Dear Parents & Guardians,

It was wonderful to see so many of our students wearing their Blackout Cancer shirts or dressing in black today to show unity and strength. We are looking forward to seeing everyone at the Blackout Cancer Game this evening as we wrap our community with love and support.

Thank you to all who attended our Open House last night. It was an eventful and informative evening, and we truly enjoyed welcoming families into the building. For those who could not attend, we have included multiple resources in the newsletter below to keep you informed and connected.

As the school year progresses, we want to emphasize the importance of open lines of communication between home and school. Together, we can ensure the success of every student.

We are also excited to share some big news: our high school made the Top 25 for the 5G Friday Night Lights Competition! With your support, we have the chance to take first place and earn one million dollars to make a field update a reality. You can vote once per day throughout the month using the link or QR code below, and you may register with each email you have. Please share with friends and family and help us make our field dreams come true!

Important Updates & Reminders:

  • Robotics Sign-Ups: Saturday at 9:00 AM. The registration link will be sent via School Messenger. Please note that spots are limited, and Robotics is always a popular program.
  • PTA Events in October:
    • Ice Cream Social – A sweet opportunity for families to connect.
    • Grade 6 Monster Bash – A fun event for our sixth graders to celebrate together.

We are so fortunate to have an active and supportive PTA. Information on how to become a member is included below. Joining is a great way to support our school community and stay involved in upcoming events.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support and partnership. We can’t wait to see you at tonight’s Blackout Cancer Game and at the many events coming up this fall.

We are so excited at Center School to host the upcoming “Monster Bash!” All sixth-grade students are welcome to participate in this sixth-annual tradition on Friday, October 17th. Students will have the opportunity to carve or paint a pumpkin with a design created in art class. An alternative fall activity will be made available if needed. In addition, students will be treated to apple cider and a donut. Our amazing PTA has been instrumental in providing us with all of the necessary supplies to make this day something special for our students! This has quickly become an event that sixth graders look forward to in their time here at WCS.

Hello WCS Families,

We are pleased to announce that Ski Club will take place again this year! We will be going to Pat’s Peak on Thursday nights in January for five fun-filled nights of skiing and snowboarding (January 8, 15, 22, 29 & Feb. 5). Students of all levels are welcome to sign up, as there are lessons at the mountain.

This year, sign-ups will be emailed out on October 25th at 9:00 AM to allow for early bird pricing and for all families to have an option to sign up. (To receive early pricing, registration must be paid in FULL on or before 11/15/25.) Sign-ups will be first-come, first-served, and can be very competitive. When you go to sign up, you will need the names and numbers of TWO emergency contacts ready to be entered. If your child does not make the cut-off for the club, please email jlemay@windhamsd.org AND scronin@windhamsd.org, as email time stamps will also create the waitlist.

If you are new to Ski Club, here is some overview information:

- Please be advised that participation in this club entails additional expenses, including bus transportation fees and a Pats Peak ski pass. Families may select from a variety of pass types, depending on their preferences and budget.

- All students must pay for their spot on the bus and get their pass from Pat’s Peak.

- Videos of how to purchase tickets and detailed information can be found on the Ski Club Page for students who join the Ski Club.

- Ski Club Swag can be purchased this year!

- This year, you can pay for the Ski Club bus digitally or by check payable to Windham Center School.

- Pat’s Peak passes must be purchased directly through Pat’s Peak. Please see the video and/or PDF directions for 2025/2026 ski club members on the Ski Club page (only available for those who get into the club).

- Students leave WCS at 1:50 and will be responsible for gathering information and work from their missed classes.

- Students will have lessons (if purchased) from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM and free skiing from 4:00 PM to 6:45 PM.

- Students who miss their check-in time (5:00 PM) cannot come the following week.

- Rental gear is available for anyone who needs it and can be purchased with their pass.

- Miss Lemay and Mrs. Cronin will email chaperones to alert them if they can be chaperones for their chosen night. You will then get a pass from Miss Lemay to ski/snowboard for the night.

-Mandatory Parent Meeting: If your child is accepted into the club, at least one parent/guardian must attend a required meeting on December 3rd at 5:30 PM. This meeting will cover all expectations, procedures, and important information for the club.
