Socktober
Did you know that socks are consistently the most requested item at homeless shelters? It's a small item, but it meets a huge health need that many people often overlook. Those experiencing homelessness often walk long distances every day, placing immense stress on their feet. Without clean socks, feet are constantly at risk. A single clean pair of socks provides warmth, comfort, and protection, making it a critical health necessity.
This simple donation can make a profound difference in someone’s daily well-being and dignity. Please consider sending in a donation of new, unused socks of any size or color with your child this month. Collection boxes will be set up in the main lobby.
Let's work together this Socktober to ensure everyone in our community & beyond can have a clean, warm pair of socks. Thank you for partnering with DuJardin to teach our students the value of caring for others!
Fostering Belonging: Connection Card Survey
At DuJardin School, we believe that a strong sense of belonging is foundational to a child's learning and well-being. To measure how connected our students feel, we administer a Connection Card Survey every Fall and Spring.
This quick survey asks students three questions:
Do you have a friend in the building?
Is there a trusted adult in the building you can talk to?
Do you feel like you belong at DuJardin School?
The feedback gathered is essential. Our staff dedicates focused time to reviewing these results, discussing trends, and looking for ways to ensure DuJardin remains a welcoming and supportive place where every single student feels safe and valued.

Focus on Bully Prevention at DuJardin
Over the next few weeks, DuJardin will be focusing on important lessons in Bully Prevention across all grade levels. We want to ensure all students feel safe, respected, and supported.
Our lessons are based on the Second Step social-emotional learning curriculum, which gives students specific, actionable steps to use when they encounter bullying. We teach students the three R's of prevention:
RECOGNIZE: This skill teaches students to identify the three characteristics of bullying: that it is repeated, on purpose, and unfair.
REPORT: Students learn the importance of immediately telling a trusted adult (teacher, staff member, or family member) when they see or experience bullying.
REFUSE: We teach children how to use a firm, clear voice and assertive body language to tell a person to stop the hurtful behavior.
We emphasize that this process is different from simply having a conflict. We encourage you to use these Recognize, Report, and Refuse steps at home when discussing friendship challenges with your child.
PTO Information
On Thursday, October 9, 2025, there will be a Superintendent Search Forum meeting at Erickson Elementary School in the gym beginning at 6:30 p.m.
As we search for our next superintendent, your insights are crucial in shaping the future of our district. This forum is hosted by the search firm, BWP & Associates, and is designed to make sure your voice directly impacts the decision-making process.
In addition, a survey will be sent to all district stakeholders on Monday, October 6, 2025. This will provide another opportunity for families to share input. The survey will close at midnight on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.
Weekend/Week Night NEWS
Would you like to celebrate your child's achievements with the DuJardin community? We love to recognize our students' accomplishments both inside and outside of school. If your child won a trophy with their sports team or outside organization, or achieved a significant milestone, we'd be happy to announce it during our morning announcements or lunch period.
Click here to share a short blurb with your child's name, grade, and the exciting news you'd like to share.

Student Needs:
Please inform the nurse of any allergies or sensitivities to foods, medications, and environmental allergens. If there are any pertinent details of your students' health that you feel the nurse needs to know, please reach out and discuss this with the school nurse. This information can be helpful to better support your student throughout the day, if certain situations arise.
About Your Student’s Medication:
The district's medication administration policy mandates that all medication to be administered at school requires an MD order, this includes over-the-counter medications. Students may NOT keep over-the-counter meds in their backpacks or in their lockers--including cough drops, Advil, etc. This is an important safety concern! Please review the policy included in the registration process.
If your student requires an inhaler, Epi-Pen, or any oral medication, please obtain the medication form and appropriate health care plan from your physician when your child has their exam. Forms may also be obtained on the district website.
Excused Physical Education Class:
Please note that all PE excuses need to be sent to the Nurse's Office. A parent may excuse a student from PE for up to 3 days. (consecutively) Thereafter, a Doctor's note is required.

AR Reading Program
The Accelerated Reader (AR) program at DuJardin: Students in first-fifth grade can take AR tests on the books they read.

Mr. Pearlman will be going over the AR program during library with our First and Second grade students this coming week. Most books we have in the library are AR books and students can read the book and take a quiz to earn points. So, find a great book, get reading, and let's get those points!
