Elementary School Building Project Update

Ipswich has entered the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) Eligibility Period for the school building project. Citizens will vote on whether or not to fund a Feasibility Study at Town Meeting on Tuesday, October 28, and then at a town-wide ballot on Wednesday, November 5. Polls will be open from 7am-8pm at the Ipswich YMCA.

Ipswich Students Shine in 2025 MCAS

During our October 16th meeting, Director of Teaching and Learning Dr. Tracy Wagner presented the 2025 MCAS and Accountability Data. We reviewed our district’s scores in comparison to prior years and state scores, as well as data broken down by each school. The full data is set freely available and accessible on the MA Department of Education website. Key takeaways from the presentation included that Ipswich consistently outperformed the state averages, it is important to look at student growth percentile (SGP) scores (which reflect a student’s growth compared to students with similar academic achievement), and that MCAS scores are a part of the story, but not the full story of student and district success. Notably, Ipswich High School received designation as a 2025 Massachusetts School of Recognition, reflecting exceptional student growth and academic achievement! The full presentation can be found here on the district website.

Building Connection Through Restorative Justice Circles

A sense of belonging is one of the strongest predictors of student well-being and school safety. This year, our Middle School is continuing to use Restorative Justice Circles — guided discussions where every student has a voice and respect and empathy are front and center. These circles help build trust, reduce conflict, and strengthen community.

We encourage families to keep the conversations going at home with kids of all ages. You can talk to your children about empathy, listening, and understanding—skills that help students feel connected and valued wherever they are.
