SWSD schools to operate as usual for one-hour late start Wednesday SWSD schools to operate as usual for one-hour late start Wednesday

The Sedro-Woolley School District will be operating normally today, including the usual one-hour late start on Wednesdays for professional development.

There are some impacted or closed roads due to flooding. The Transportation Department will directly communicate with families affected by these road closures.

For families at the Red Cross Shelter in Hamilton, there are specific arrangements for student transportation. A bus will pick up middle and high school students at the church's driveway at approximately 8 a.m. Elementary school students will be picked up at 9:45 a.m. Students will be dropped off at the same location in the afternoon.

Today is a regular late-start Wednesday with schools starting one hour later than normal.

Running Start — Skagit Valley College / NCTA

Running Start

Due to the current situation, we strongly urge students and parents to exercise caution when navigating to Skagit Valley College for running start classes. Specifically, roads such as Francis, Mud Lake, and Swan are often flooded (there have been reports of water over Swan Road overnight).

NCTA

Buses will be transporting students from the high school to NCTA classes at the Mount Vernon and Anacortes Skills Centers. Any students who have been allowed to self-transport due to special circumstances should consider riding the buses to and from classes today.

One-Hour Late Start: Flood Routes

Bus riders can anticipate the bus arriving approximately at approximately the same time it normally does for a one-hour late start. For roads that are impassable due to flooding, the Transportation Department will implement alternate stops. Please see the Traversa Ride 360 app for your child's route information or call our transportation dispatchers at 360-855-3504 if you live in a flood-prone area. During adverse weather conditions, our dispatch secretaries may experience high call volumes. If your call is not immediately answered, please leave a message, and they will return your call as soon as possible.

It's important to note that all students will be picked up (AM) and dropped off (PM) at the same location, regardless of weather-related changes.

Your understanding and cooperation are greatly appreciated as we work to ensure the safety and efficient transportation of our students during challenging weather conditions.
