Pumpkins for Parker-Thank you!!

A big thank you to everyone who participated in Pumpkins for Parker! We were able to raise $585 to support Parker in her fight against B-ALL leukemia.

Our staff had a blast decorating the pumpkins, and the students enjoyed seeing all the fun and creative designs! The top pumpkin winner was Michael Jackson, and the students enjoyed being able to take home their winning pumpkins! Thank you for helping us come together as a Coulston family to support Parker and her family. We appreciate you all!

Body Safety Program-Please Read

Dear Parents & Caregivers,

Your child’s class will be participating in a very important program called Childhelp Speak Up Be Safe that teaches children about personal safety. During a single 30- to 60-minute session on November 2nd or 3rd, a trained facilitator will present research-based, age-appropriate lessons to help children learn the skills to prevent or interrupt cycles of neglect and child abuse – physical, emotional and sexual - as mandated by Indiana state law.

Because adults are responsible for keeping children safe, the lessons focus on helping children identify a safe adult and learn five safety rules the children can use to help their safe adults keep them safe:

1. It’s MY body! 2. Ask an adult if I am safe 3. I have choices 4. Tell someone 5. It’s NEVER my fault!

The program is voluntary, which means that you do not have to allow your child to participate, or you may take your child out of the program at any time. Please sign and return the attached letter only if you DO NOT want your child to participate. If we do not receive the form, we will assume your child has permission to be included in the lessons. Visit www.indianaprevention.org or email megan@indianaprevention.org for

Thank you for helping build a strong safety net for our children!

Sincerely, Christi Reed,

cmreed@shelbycs.org (317) 398-3185

Kindergarten Drop Off

Kindergarten Bus Drop-Off Safety Reminder

For the safety of our youngest students, Shelbyville Central Schools requires that all kindergarten students be met at the bus stop by a parent, guardian, older responsible sibling, or another approved adult listed on the Student Release Authorization Form provided by the parent.

Please be sure the approved adult is physically present at the bus stop when the bus arrives so the driver can safely release your child directly to them.

If the driver does not recognize the adult meeting your child, they will ask to see identification and verify that the individual is listed on the Student Release Authorization Form.

If no approved adult is present at the stop, your child will be returned to school, and the parent will be contacted.

Thank you for helping us keep our youngest students safe and for your cooperation with this important safety procedure!

September Attendance

If your child is absent from school, please call the school office at 317-398-3185 by 9:00 and leave a message on the attendance line. Be sure to include your child's name, grade, teacher, and the reason for the absence.

Regular attendance is important for student success. Being at school every day helps students learn, build relationships, and stay on track. Our school attendance goal is 96%. Thank you for partnering with us to support positive attendance!

Good News From Coulston

We are so proud of the amazing start to our school year here at Coulston Elementary! Our hallways and classrooms are filled with energy, and our students are already showing what it truly means to be a Coulston Comet.

Every day, we look for opportunities to catch our students doing the right thing. When a Comet goes above and beyond, we celebrate them with Good News Visits and special recognition certificates for being:

  • Respectful: Using kind words and honoring our school community.

  • Responsible: Taking ownership of their learning and daily actions.

  • Safe: Making careful, thoughtful choices in everything they do.
