Woodcrest News
Woodcrest Students and Staff had an amazing first week back to school! It is exciting to see so many smiles throughout building.
We are excited to welcome families and parents to Back to School Night on Monday, 9/8, at 6:00. Please read below for more information.
This week, Mrs. La Gamba and I will also meet with each grade level to review our Core Values and the Woodcrest School Pledge, and talk about ways we can be kind and respectful to one another at school. This year, we will focus on what our Core Values look like "in action." Students will also learn about No Place for Hate, and sign our No Place for Hate Promise.
Back to School Night is September 8th!
Woodcrest Teachers and Staff are excited to welcome you to Back to School Night on Monday, September 8, from 6:00-7:10pm. It’s always a special evening to come together, connect, and celebrate the start of a new school year.
Classroom Presentations
Each teacher has planned a brief presentation that will give you an overview of the classroom expectations, procedures, goals and curriculum.
Grades K-5 Classroom Teachers, Autism Support Teachers, and Resource Room Teachers will offer two sessions, both covering the same content. You only need to attend one session.
Session #1: 6:05 to 6:35 pm
Session #2: 6:45 to 7:15 pm
Meet Our Team
In order to maximize your time with your child’s teacher, Mrs. La Gamba, our Guidance Counselor, and I recorded a brief video presentation for you to view at your convenience. We will both be available throughout the evening in the Library if you would like to speak with us.
Encore Teachers, Guidance Counselor, Librarian, Therapists, Nurse, Literacy Teacher Coach and Math Teacher Coach will be available in the Library from 6:00 to 7:15pm.
Please Note:
Back to School Night is intended to give you an overview of the classroom experience. If you have individual questions for the teacher(s), please email or call to discuss them at a later time. Families unable to attend can contact the staff member directly to schedule a time to talk.
If possible, we ask that children stay home so that the evening can stay focused on family–teacher conversations.
We look forward to seeing you at Back to School Night! Your partnership will help us ensure a successful school year for your children.
Sincerely,
Alison McCartney
Arrival Procedures
Parents dropping off their child to school during the supervised window of time of 8:45-9:00 should drop their child off in the front of the building. There is no supervision for students before 8:45am.
All walkers will enter through the Main Entrance doors.
Students should remain on sidewalks unless being escorted by an adult. Cross only at the identified cross walk areas.
Students riding bicycles to school must walk their bikes once on campus. Bikes can be stored and locked at the rack to the right of the main entrance.
Car Line
Please pull cars up as close as possible to the main entrance so that multiple cars can unload simultaneously. Please see the map below.
Do not pass or drive around cars that are in the drop-off line. The car line is single file.
Due to serious safety concerns with bus and staff parking traffic, please do not drop off students in the rear of the building.
Daily Dismissal Procedures
If there is a change to your child's dismissal procedures (walker, busser or SACC), please let the classroom teacher and the main office know as soon as possible. You can include Mrs. Petroski on the email (npetroski@chclc.org).
Due to the large number of walkers at Woodcrest, we will close off the main driveway from 3:20-3:40 for student safety. If you elect to park in the lot to pick up your child, please be willing to wait until the driveway opens at 3:40.
Walkers/Student Pick-Ups:
- Students should only exit the building through doors that are staffed by by an adult, which are the front main office doors and the SACC by the large APR.
- Students should remain on the sidewalks unless escorted by an adult.
- Any students riding bicycles must walk their bicycle until they are off campus.
Students Riding the Bus:
- Students taking a bus will wait in their classrooms until their bus has arrived. Students will be escorted by a staff member to the bus loop in the rear of the building.
Students Attending SACC:
- Students attending SACC will be escorted by a staff member to the large APR at dismissal.
Breakfast and Lunch
Any student wishing to purchase breakfast at school may do so beginning at 8:45am. PLEASE talk with your child to tell them if they should or should not go to breakfast when they arrive. Lunch is also available daily for students to purchase. Your child's lunch number is the last four digits of their School ID.
