ThunderRidge Weekly Update

Principal's Perspective
We are beyond excited to have you back in the building with us next week! We have had so many guests at TR this summer, in some ways it feels like school has been in session already for the past two weeks. We hosted the district’s Summer Summit and New Staff Orientation in the past two weeks, in addition to bringing our staff back in for two work and professional development days with two more on Monday and Tuesday.
We have a number of announcements this week:
We have a new entrance to the building! It is my fervent hope that you will finally get to use our main entrance by the very start of the school year. Look for the glass double doors and follow the signs to enter the building.
Always be ready to show ID when coming to pick up your student. The security check-in will now be through those glass double doors.
School starts on Wednesday for new students and incoming freshmen.
Thursday and Friday next week are ALL day schedules (without a PLC late start) for all students in all grades.
Remember that phones will be off and stowed as the teachers indicate during each class - although they are allowed during passing periods, at lunch, etc.
With our new bell schedule, we will need our bus riders to hustle to the bus loop between TR and RVMS as quickly as they can so buses can get to our feeder elementary schools on time. Ideally, buses want to be gone from TRHS by about 3:05, so please remember to hurry to your buses at the end of the day.
The big Field Day reveal will be next week. Please remember to buy your students’ Field Day shirts ASAP - info is below. This year, Field Day is October 2nd.
I’ll share next week how to borrow a school laptop if you need one. We don’t have enough for everyone so will prioritize those with financial hardship for checkout first. We will keep some on hand here at the school for teachers to check out for students too.
This year all Juniors will take the PSAT National Merit Scholarship Qualifying test on Wednesday September 30th. This is a great pre-test for the SAT in the Spring and also allows our Juniors with the best scores to potentially qualify for the National Merit Scholarship.
I know there is so much more, but we’ll start with that. If you love TR as much as I do, please don’t hesitate to vote for ThunderRidge as a 2026 Colorado Parent Magazine’s Favorite Public High School. You can vote daily through August 15th. We love knowing you support us and want your voice to be heard! Remember to go to the School Category to find us.
See you before you know it!
Liz

Permits purchased AFTER August 7th may be picked up at the security kiosk when school begins on August 13th. Note: Parking permits will not be available for purchase on-site on Wednesday, August 12th.
Returning seniors will not get a new ID/yearbook photo taken. Student ID photos will roll from last year and IDs will be distributed by your Seminar teacher.
Returning sophomores, juniors and seniors, if you are unable to attend during your scheduled time, you may come in from 1:00pm - 2:00pm. This is a small window, so please do your best to attend during your scheduled morning time.
