Principal's Message
Dear OMS Community,
We are at the halfway point for Trimester 1. Progress reports were emailed home this week. Progress reports are a snapshot of how your child is doing in classes so far this trimester. Trimester 1 ends on Friday, December 6th. Students still have time in Trimester 1 if they are looking to improve their grades. If students are doing well academically so far, they are encouraged to continue working hard through the rest of the trimester.
There are two ways students and parents/guardians can stay up-to-date on academics.
- PowerSchool Portal: Parents/Guardians can monitor grades and view any missing assignments on the PowerSchool Portal. If you select the grade, you will be able to view the detailed assignment list to see more information on how students are doing in each class. Students also have access to viewing this information through their PowerSchool. There are various settings parents can utilize on the PowerSchool Portal and you can turn notifications on/off based on your own preferences. If you need help with the PowerSchool Portal, please call the OMS main office. You can access the Portal by going to the OMS website and clicking on "PowerSchool" at the top right corner.
- Google Classroom: Students have a Google Classroom for all of their classes. This is a hub for many online assignments. While many assignments can be accessed through the Google Classroom, this space does not have all assignments. For example, any paper-based assignments would be turned into the teacher during class and not on Google Classroom. Parents/guardians, if you are viewing your student's Google Classroom, remember to check if a student completed the assignment before pressing submit. If a student submits a blank assignment on Google Classroom, it may look complete because it is "submitted" but the assignment could be blank. Note: We have an "OMS Students" Google Classroom which functions as a hub for school announcements for any clubs, activities, or resources for students.
If you have any questions about your child's grades or progress in a class, please reach out directly to their teacher by email or phone.
Sincerely,
Katrina Crowley
