Lutherville Lab Report
What's gone down & what's coming up at the leopards' lair.
April 22nd, 2022
What a wonderful week to welcome our School Family back to the Lab!! It was so good to be reunited earlier this week. Students quickly got back into the flow of learning and there was much joy in being reunited with classmates and beloved teachers. Prior to break we went out on the high note of celebrating the Read-A-Thon by turning teachers into human sundaes! Check out the pictures below. A highlight of this week was "Box Day," which students in primary grades celebrated this morning.
And we have a great deal to look forward to in the weeks ahead! Next week on Thursday we have Leopard's Run, Math Night (see flyer attached!), and a Spirit Night at Felipe's Taqueria. Friday is a spirit day for college and career. Next week we also begin MCAP state testing. Our 3rd graders will test next week and other grade level testing dates and more information on testing is below.
On the horizon, schools are closed on May 3rd and we're holding another Kindergarten Round-Up that afternoon (our last, so please encourage anyone you know to attend!). May 6th we are looking forward to Pizza Bingo here on campus!
I am looking forward to the events ahead this spring and connecting more with families. Hope to see you here! :)
In partnership,
-Mr. McComb
Read-A-Thon Celebration!
State Testing - Grades 3-5
Dear Families,
Over the next few weeks, our 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade students will be participating in the Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program (MCAP). This year MCAP assessments are designed for online administration and are taken in four 40-minute sessions assessing math skills and four 70-minute sessions assessing reading skills. Students will test over four days.
Each day they will take a 40-minute math session and a 70-minute ELA session. The 4th and 5th-grade students will take the test with their homeroom teacher.
The test allows students to use the same computer-based tools they access during instruction. In addition, students will receive testing accommodations for the MCAP as written in their IEP or 504 plan.
Please help us help your child do their best by ensuring they arrive at school on time and ensure they get a good night’s sleep.

Leopard's Run
The Leopard’s Run is next Thursday, April 28 after school from 4:20pm-5:20 pm. The Leopard’s Run is a one mile fun run on school grounds for 3rd-5th graders. We are requesting that all participants donate a minimum of 2 non-perishable food items for the Maryland Food Bank.
After the run, the participants will receive refreshments and medals will be awarded to the top three boys and girls of each grade level. All participants will then have a chance to win various prizes. This is an excellent opportunity to have fun with your friends, get exercise and help those less fortunate! Please see the attached form to register.
Movement Education Equipment, aka “Whittle Equipment”
The “Movement Education Equipment” is a series of climbing apparatuses that are grouped together to make an obstacle course. The purpose of this equipment is to help students with their balance, climbing skills, problem-solving, and ability to work cooperatively.
We would love a “whittle” help next week with our Kindergarten students as they move through our obstacle course. Please see the attached form for more information.
Please note that volunteers much complete 3 steps:
1. Volunteer Application (found here)
2. Orientation and Health & Safety - Mitigation Training (found here)
3. Vaccination Verification Smartsheet (found here)
