A Special Note For Car Line Parents
Please be sure to do the following to help with our car line:
* Please stay off your cell phone during car line. We need to keep the cars moving as quickly as possible.
* Have a school generated car tag hanging from the visor until you exit the car line.
* During morning car line, have child(ren) unbuckled and backpack in hand to exit the vehicle once a
staff member opens the vehicle door.
* Remind students that when they are waiting for pick up in the afternoons they need to remain quiet and as soon as they hear their name called in the afternoon car line to immediately stand up and walk to the gym entrance door.
What's Happening In Special Classes This Month...
CAT TIME
Teacher: Emily Tilley
etilley@bpsbearcats.com
In CAT Time with Ms. Tilley, students are learning all about STEM (science, technology, engineering, & math). We will discover objects and use creative thinking to solve problems. We will continue learning rules and procedures for September to keep us safe when using science materials.
LIBRARY
Teacher: Dana Gamble
This month we will be learning about book care, parts of a book and manners in the library. We will also focus on Fiction and Fantasy genre stories. Book Fair will be October 16-24. It will be open to the students in the mornings and parents during Parent-Teacher Conferences. More information will be sent beginning in October.
PE
Teacher: Shane Duncan
I am so excited to have all the kids back running around the gym. We have spent the first few weeks learning how to come into class and all the procedures for the gym. We are going to spend September learning fun games and activities to get the kids moving and playing. The next few months will be holiday themed games, so September we get to play random activities that I enjoy. I'm excited for this year and to see all the fun your kids will have in class this year.
ART
Teacher: Megan Jones
In Art class we will be looking into the element of art known as line! Students will explore different types of lines used in artwork and lines in the world around us. Students will create artworks using line to show movement in their pieces, while also incorporating color from their knowledge of the color wheel.
MUSIC
Teacher: Kari Metheny
For the month of September, We will be focusing on our 4 types of voices (speaking, singing, whispering, & calling voices). We will also be learning the high & low of pitch with vocal exploration and other music movement lessons for kinesthetic learning. We will also start learning about the steady beat of the music.
Pre-School News for September...
We’ve had a fantastic start to the school year! The children have been busy learning classroom routines, practicing procedures, and discovering what it means to be a good friend. It’s been such a joy getting to know each of them! In August, our theme was "Me and My School." We explored our school environment, learned about our amazing bodies, and discovered how our five senses help us experience the world around us. This month, we’re diving into the theme of "Families and Friends." We’ll be talking about our families, how to identify and express our emotions, and ways to regulate our feelings using calming strategies. We're also looking forward to celebrating Dot Day on September 15th — be sure to wear your dots to join in the fun!
Here are a few ways you can support your child’s growth and independence at home:
Encourage them to open their own snack packages
Practice getting dressed on their own
Try STAR breathing (deep belly breaths) when they’re feeling upset to help them calm down
We’re so excited for the month ahead and all the learning and growing it will bring. Thank you for being a part of our preschool family!
Kindergarten News for September...
Kindergarten is off to a great start! The students are adjusting to their school routines and learning school expectations. For the month of September kindergarten students will learn about the four seasons, farm animals, leaves, scarecrows and apples. In math, students will focus on writing numbers to 10, counting to 10, one-to-one correspondence to 10, recognizing numbers to 10, length and sorting objects. For phonics, students will work on recognizing the letters Tt, Pp, Nn, Aa, Mm, Dd, Gg, Ss and Ii. knowing the sound each letter makes, and forming the letters correctly on the line. Students will also begin learning sight words! This month's sight words are: I, a, the, to, play, see, for, is, like, have, you, go, so, look, come, said, saw. As you can see we are starting to dive in, so please make sure you are reviewing skills with your student nightly.

A Note From The Principals....
Welcome back to school! We are so excited to have everyone with us this year. Over the last few weeks, everyone is starting to settle in, establish routines, and get into the groove of being at the Primary School. Over the course of the year, both Mrs. Pearson and I will provide safety tips, general information and helpful suggestions to make sure our building is the best it can be. Each month our students will practice fire and tornado drills to ensure safety and help our little ones be less anxious in the event of a real emergency. We appreciate all the parental support that has been shown to our students and staff. Please feel free to contact either of us if you have any questions or concerns!
Fall Sports Schedules....
Come support our Bearcat Athletes! Attached are the fall schedules for football, volleyball, golf, tennis, trap and cross country.
