News from Candice
Hello Cougar Families!!
I hope you are enjoying this Fall-ish weather. Our CME squirrels are currently getting ready for the winter by collecting their acorns, in fact, one almost ran in the front door this morning as I was holding it open welcoming students!
Our Ninja Nation fundraiser has now come to an end and we have earned a whopping $31,445! Thank you all so much for your generosity and helping make CME a great place for learning. We will be getting a new electronic marquee to replace the dinosaur sitting out front. A huge thank you to Melissa Swainston for all her hard work in updating our current sign over the years. Once again THANK YOU so much to your friends and family for supporting us!!
Lockdown Drill
I am writing to you today to inform you about a lockdown drill that will be conducted at our school on Monday, September 29th. District security and law enforcement will be involved in this drill to provide feedback to our staff and the process.
The safety of your children is our top priority. While the topic of safety drills can be unsettling, they are a vital part of our commitment to creating a secure learning environment. Conducting these drills is not only a state requirement but, more importantly, a critical practice that prepares our students and staff to respond effectively and calmly in the event of an emergency.
Our goal is to make sure every student knows what to do in a way that minimizes fear and maximizes their sense of security. We will be guiding the students through the process with care and reassurance. Following the drill, our teachers and staff will be available to talk with students and address any questions or concerns they may have in a supportive way.
We understand that these conversations can be difficult. We encourage you to talk with your children about the importance of school safety and reassure them that these drills are a way we all work together to stay safe.
Staff PD Day
On Monday, while your kids were enjoying a three-day weekend, we were enjoying some time for adult learning here at CME with our staff. We took a look at our new Positive Behavior Incentive Support (PBIS) system. We are reworking what this looks like here at CME with staff input. We are looking forward to rolling this out with our students after WInter Break! For now, we are still using our Cougar PRIDE Award system.
