Mission
To empower, enrich, and enlighten students to reach their full potential while respecting our past.
Greetings from Mrs. Musick
Dear St. Elizabeth Families,
The end of first quarter is next week! That is hard to believe! I have been in each classroom seeing lots of learning, students engaged with a project, kids excited about a goal they are working towards or have met, students engaged during specials, and so much more!
Here are a few updates as we move into the next month:
✅ Celebrations
-
Carnival was a great evening for our families! Congratulations to Emmett Wright and Chloe Oligschlaeger, our new Carnival King and Queen!
I survived the kissing of the pig for first grade's reading goal! It was a highlight of my career!
Congratulations to our teams on successful seasons! Fall baseball wraps up tonight, JH Basketball wraps up the week of October 20th in the Show Me Central Conference Tournament, and softball starts district play on Wednesday, October 15th at 8 pm!
We started Hornet Fridays! It is a great way for a student group and I to greet students on a Friday morning--music, dancing, and high fives! There is no better way to start a day!

💡 Our Focus: Engagement
This year’s theme is Year of Engagement. We are working to engage every student, every day, in meaningful learning and active participation. A way that you can help at home is to ask them about what they are learning in the classroom. If you ever have any suggestions, questions, or concerns, don't hesitate to reach out to me.
Here’s to a wonderful rest of October and rest of 1st Quarter!
It's a great day to be a Hornet!

Hornet Friday
On Fridays, student groups and/or teams are signing up to help me greet students in the morning! We use a speaker with pump up music, do some clapping and dancing, and greet students! It has been such a fun way to start a Friday!
Kiss the Pig, Mrs. Musick! 🐖
Well, it happened! A crowd full of shouting kids yelling "Kiss the Pig" with signs and the inspiration that started it all from a book called "This School Year Will Be the Best" where a principal kissed a pig when they read 100 books. I spoke to the kids about the importance of goal setting and next thing I know I am face to face with this pig, and kiss its snout. It squeals and so did I! Think we were both pretty nervous about the whole event.
Hands down it was one of my favorite days of my career and one that I will hold dear. It was a day that kids were super excited to be together in the gym and see their principal do something crazy because a class set a goal and met it. That's the beauty of that kiss the pig--it was because a goal that was met, something that students worked hard to complete, as a class, and wanted to include me in it. That was what I loved most about it. The other fun part is I'm hoping that day in the gym is a core memory for some of the kids--it will be for me.

Reminders for the School Year
Drop off times: Students can't be dropped off before 7:45, unless participating in the Before Care program or an appointment with a teacher. This is to ensure that they are being looked after by staff. Drop off times should be between 7:45 and 8:00 and students will come to the gym during those times instead of main entrance.
Before/After Care for K-5th Grade: Friendly reminder that the end time for After Care for K-5 is 5:00. Please make sure that if your child is here before 7:45, that they are attending Before Care.
Changes to routine: Please make sure to call the office before 2:00 or send a note in if there are changes to your child's routine for dismissal.
Pre-Arranged Absences: Please be sure to let Mrs. Musick and child's teacher(s) know. All work should be gathered before and is due upon return.
