Inside Scoop
Hockinson High School - 2026-2027
August 21, 2026
Hello, Hawks:
It was so great to see so many students on campus today for orientation! We are ready for you!
At HHS, everything we do centers around relationships and connections. Those relationships are the heart of our culture, and they are what make our school a safe, welcoming, and supportive place to help all ELEVATE. Our community - and the relationships that are created and forged within it - rely on rules and expectations. Clear expectations don't exist to restrict you. They exist to protect our culture and environment, minimize distractions, and ensure everyone feels valued and seen.
The way I see it, rules protect relationships!
I am sharing our updated Cell Phone and Personal Device Policy and our new Focus Policy in this week's Scoop. These policies are designed intentionally to enhance what we already have - a connected and positive community, strong relationships, and an active and engaged student body.
Please take a few moments to review the expectations. Thank you for making Hockinson High School an incredible place to be.

Focus Policy
This one is easy! It's No Fly Focus...every day.
We love seeing our students connect with teachers, but during Focus period, we follow one very strict, supernatural law - The Vampire Rule.
Much like the creatures of the night, students cannot enter another teacher's classroom during Focus unless they have been formally invited with a pre-arranged pass.
Why the rule? Focus is meant to be a high-value time for academic support, catch-up, targeted instruction, and to make up assessments. Hallway travel without a destination creates distractions for everyone.
How it works: If a teacher needs to see you, they’ll issue a pass. Otherwise, your default location for Focus is where you belong for the duration.
PS - This is the one instructional period of the day that you get to use your phone - unless we've got HSBP, you're taking a test, or your teacher tells you no phones during Focus!
Focus Class Meetings

Wednesday - 10th Grade
