A Message from the Williston Schools Leadership Team
by Angela Filion, Allen Brook School Principal
Celebrating the Joy of Learning, Community, and Connection
As we head into the final days of the school year, I find myself reflecting on the incredible celebrations, experiences, and moments of joy that have filled our school over the past several weeks. These events remind us that school is so much more than academics, it is a place where relationships are built, identities are celebrated, and memories are made.
We kicked off our Playground Fundraiser with excitement and energy as we work together as a community to raise funds for a new playground here at ABS. Seeing students, families, and staff come together around a shared vision for enhancing our playground was inspiring. The enthusiasm generated at the launch event reminds us what is possible when a community rallies around a common goal.
Our kindergarten students also had a special opportunity to work with Superintendent Adam Bunting and members of our Central Office team. Through thoughtful conversations, lessons about identity, and student interviews, our youngest learners reflected on who they are, what makes them unique, and what they love about themselves. Watching our kindergarteners confidently share their stories, ideas, and dreams was a powerful reminder of the importance of helping every child feel seen, valued, and celebrated.
One of the highlights of the spring was our Allen Brook School Field Day. Thanks to the incredible planning and collaboration of our PBIS Committee, along with the support of many parent volunteers, students enjoyed a day packed with fun, teamwork, laughter, and movement.
At one point during the day, I paused and looked across our campus. I saw students grouped together in their classroom colors, laughter echoing across the fields, adults cheering children on, students cheering each other on, and smiles everywhere I looked. It was one of those moments that perfectly captures our "why" as educators. The sights and sounds of joy, belonging, connection, and childhood reminded me exactly why we do this work every day. The celebration concluded with an unforgettable adults inflatable race that had students and staff cheering from the sidelines, along with popsicles for everyone, a perfect ending to a wonderful day!
Another special experience this week was a visit from Kevin Conger, a former CVU graduate and entrepreneur with high-functioning autism. Our second graders spent a fun-filled afternoon playing games, learning about Kevin's journey, and hearing how he turned his passion into a business that brings people together through connection and play. Kevin's story was an inspiring reminder that our unique strengths and interests can become powerful gifts to share with the world. We are grateful to Superintendent Adam Bunting for helping bring Kevin's program to our schools and providing students with this meaningful opportunity. If you would like to learn more about Kevin's work or support his business, please visit Games with Kevin…I am told he even does birthday parties!
Today, we gathered for our final school assembly of the year, where we celebrated our second graders as they prepare for their transition to Williston Central School. The assembly was filled with heartfelt moments as our kindergarten students sang Make New Friends, reminding us that while our second graders are moving on to a new chapter, the friendships and memories they have built at Allen Brook School will remain. Each second grader was presented with a flower from our kindergarten students as a new tradition. It was a beautiful way to honor this special class and send them off with the love and support of our entire school community.
The excitement has continued with end-of-year Celebrations of Learning, field trips, classroom showcases, and special events happening throughout the building. Students have shared their learning with families, reflected on their growth, and celebrated all they have accomplished this year. Every hallway, classroom, and gathering has been filled with pride and accomplishment.
As we prepare to close another remarkable school year, I am grateful for the students, families, staff, and community members who help make Allen Brook School such a special place. Together, we have created opportunities for learning, laughter, connection, and belonging. These final weeks have been a beautiful reminder that while learning is at the heart of what we do, it is the relationships and shared experiences that truly make our school community thrive.
Thank you for helping make this such a memorable end to the year. We look forward to finishing strong and celebrating all that our students have accomplished.

Hill Closings
In the event that weather and/or road conditions make it unsafe for our buses to travel hill roads, we will notify parents and/or caregivers of students on those routes with as much notice as possible.
When hills are closed for afternoon bus runs, if no one arrives to meet younger students, they will be brought back to school until arrangements are made for them to be picked up. Please talk with your bus drivers to let them know if you are comfortable letting your child walk home from the drop off location.
We will use the automated SchoolMessenger system to notify families on the hill roads.
