Welcome to Central!

Hello Future 6th Grade Families,

Central is undergoing renovations this summer! In previous years, we would host a Welcome to Central orientation for incoming 6th grade students. Due to the uncertainty of the renovation completion, we will not host this event this year. To make up for this, we are having a Step-Up Day on Monday June 2nd. During that event, incoming 6th graders will have an opportunity to meet some of their future teachers, tour the building, and see what it's like to be a 6th grader. Students will be bussed to Central from their elementary school on this date. If you have any questions, please reach out to Kevin Kuzanek, Assistant Principal at Central (kkuzanek@district146.org).

Annual 5th Grade Clap Out

Last day of school (6/4) at 11:25!

We will be having a “send-off” for our 5th graders on the last day of school, Wednesday, June 4th, at 11:25am. 5th grade students will walk the halls of Fulton one last time with all the other grade level students and staff lining the halls and sidewalks to cheer them onto the next chapter in their lives--middle school!

5th Grade Route--5th graders and retirees will begin and end on the Kindergarten playground.

Stage on K playground around 11:20

Enter the building through K doors at 11:25

Walk K hallway

Go straight up stairs

Walk upstairs hallway

Go down stairs

Walk downstairs hallway

Go out the FRONT doors (Door 1)

Walk front sidewalk back to K playground

Meet parents/gather belongings on playground before dismissal

  • We ask that students stay in line until we return to the playground where they can be picked up for photos and dismissal.
  • Best spots for viewing the parade will be in front of the school and near the playground gates as they return to the playground.
  • If you attend and plan to take your child home from the playground, please return the slip to their teacher.

We hope you enjoy this annual tradition!

2nd Grade Community Unit

Second Grade engaged in a fascinating Social Studies unit. The focus was on the complex concept of “community”...communities of the past and present...communities that are rural, suburban, or urban...communities and their economies and governments...and communities and their connections between people, animals, and the environment. During this unit the children learned about the needs and wants within their own community of Tinley Park. As they discovered this...and other!... information, they had an opportunity to share it with their classmates by taking part in a group project. The pictures below show the communities they made!
