Message from the Superintendent, Dr. Kayleen Marble

Dear Families,

As we move into block 5, we wish to celebrate the great things that have been happening at our school. Both our e-sports and basketball teams had terrific seasons and both made the playoffs. We appreciate the hard work of all our coaches and the commitment they have made to our students and school (Mr. Dunford, Coach CJ, Coach Chris, Coach Anthony). We also had a successful Career Fair organized by Ms. Holec with representatives from colleges, armed forces, and many different careers. The students enjoyed learning more and getting ideas for their future after graduation. We will soon have spring break followed by Prom, state testing and then many activities for seniors. Our teachers have been bringing many opportunities to students with clubs on Thursdays, and our Counselor is doing group sessions for students each week. We are excited to continue to improve our school and increase opportunities for our students and increase opportunities for family and parent engagement. Let’s finish the year strong and continue a legacy of success at ACP.

Message from the Dean of Academics, Ms. Molly Ryan

Dear Families,

As we leap into the spring season, it’s a great time to reflect on the incredible progress our students have made so far this year. With the end of the school year in sight, there are a few key things we want to keep at the forefront to ensure the next few months are as successful as possible!

First, let's talk about the importance of getting to school on time. Starting the day with a positive, on-time arrival sets the tone for a productive day ahead. We encourage our students to arrive early so they can fully engage in the learning experience from the moment they step into the classroom. A smooth, calm morning helps students feel organized, ready, and able to focus on their goals for the day.

Now, let’s chat about keeping those grades up. We all know that maintaining strong grades can sometimes feel like a marathon, but it’s important to keep pushing ahead—especially with the finish line in sight! Encourage your students to stay consistent with their studies and seek out extra help if needed. Remember, small steps each day lead to big results, and the effort they put in now will pay off not just for the rest of the year, but also in building lifelong skills.

Of course, all of this comes with a dose of fun! Learning isn’t just about grades and assignments—it’s about growth, discovery, and setting new challenges. Let’s keep the energy high as we finish out the year strong.

Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to seeing all the great things our students will accomplish!

Message from the Dean of Students, Mr. Chester Freas

Dear Families,

As we enter the vibrant and energizing spring season, it's a perfect time to remind our students about the importance of making thoughtful, responsible choices. High school is a time for growth, exploration, and, yes, even a little trial and error. However, the decisions students make now can have lasting effects, and it's essential they think carefully before acting.

Making good choices isn’t just about doing the right thing when someone is watching—it's about building character, setting a strong foundation for the future, and creating an environment where everyone feels respected and supported. From managing time wisely and balancing academics with extracurriculars to treating peers with kindness and handling challenges maturely, our students have the opportunity every day to demonstrate the integrity and accountability that will serve them long after graduation.

As parents and guardians, you play a huge role in guiding your student through this critical stage. Let’s encourage them to be mindful of the choices they make, both big and small. Whether it’s standing up for what’s right, seeking help when needed, or simply showing respect in every interaction, these moments add up to the kind of positive influence that makes our school community so special.

We are proud of the growth we continue to see in our students and look forward to supporting them as they make the most of the rest of this school year. Together, we can help them finish the year strong and equipped for success—inside and outside of the classroom.

Thank you for your ongoing partnership in supporting our students.

During his visit, Lance shared valuable insights on the importance of perseverance, self-belief, and taking initiative in shaping your future. His engaging talk motivated our students to think critically about their own paths, encouraging them to take ownership of their goals and dreams.

ROAR

Mighty Lions Choose to ROAR

R - Respectful

O - Open-Minded

A - Achievers

R - Responsible

Key Components of ROAR

  • Clear Expectations: We establish and communicate clear behavioral expectations for students across different settings within the school. This helps students understand what behaviors are expected and how they can achieve them.

  • Positive Reinforcement: We recognize and reward positive behavior through various incentives and praise. This reinforces desired behaviors and encourages students to continue making good choices.

Benefits of ROAR:

  • Improved Behavior: By focusing on positive reinforcement and clear expectations, ROAR helps reduce behavioral issues and promotes a more respectful and cooperative school environment.
  • Enhanced Learning: A positive and supportive environment allows students to focus on learning and achieve their academic goals.
  • Stronger School Community: ROAR fosters a sense of community and belonging among students, staff, and families, contributing to a more inclusive and supportive school culture.

Attendance Policy - Reminder

Students need to be on time to school no later than 7:59 AM. Students report back to school after lunch no later than 11:59 AM.

    • Students tardy by less than 20 minutes will be sent to ISS during a "sweep" and remain there working quietly until break. They will then return to their scheduled class after break. The time in ISS covers the tardy hours.
    • Students who are more than 20 minutes late will be sent to ISS for the remainder of the class period and work quietly. The hours they are in ISS count towards hours completed that a student owes.
    • Students tardy after lunch will be in full day ISS until break. If students are late from lunch more than once during the week they will have a full day ISS NO BREAKS and will need to bring a lunch.

Attendance Matters

  • 2 Absences Per Month X 9 Months of School = Less Likely to Graduate from High School.
  • Did you know? People with a High School diploma make more than $1,000,000 in a lifetime over those without a High School diploma.
  • A child who is 10 minutes late misses 32 hours a year of lost instruction.
  • Poor attendance can influence whether children read proficiently by the end of third grade.

Tax Credit Donations

Remember that each year there is an AZ tax credit of $200 for individuals and $400 for families when you donate to a school. This means that if you give a donation of that amount to the school (with receipt) you get that as a tax credit back on your AZ state taxes. Business/Corporate donations can be up to $800. These donations are used to help our sports and other extracurricular activities. Please talk to Ms. Ramos at the front office if you'd like to make a donation. For more information, you can go to https://azdor.gov/tax-credits/public-school-tax-credit
