Low Incidence Disabilities (LID) training - A Step Towards IEP Quality and Rigor
February 25, 2022 (8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.): During this training educators will gain understanding of critical components of the IEP including the Present Levels of Academic Achievement and Functional Performance (PLAAFP), goals/objectives and progress monitoring.
A rubric was developed by the Texas Complex Access Network (TX CAN) to guide the development of high quality and rigorous PLAAFPs, goals, objectives, and progress monitoring for students with significant cognitive disabilities.
Session participants will review the quality and rigor rubric and apply it to the IEP’s, PLAAFP, Goals, Objectives, and Progress Monitoring using examples documents as well as one they have created. Educators will have a copy of the rubric to utilize in their district to assist with creating PLAAFPs, goals, objectives, and progress monitoring methods that are rigorous and of high quality.
Standards-Based Individualized Education Program(IEP) Process Training
March 1-2, 2022 (9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.): Participants will learn how to gather meaningful data to develop Present Levels of Academic Achievement and Functional Performance (PLAAFP) statements and write measurable annual goals aligned with grade-level academic content for students receiving special education services. By using the strategies presented, participants will be able to determine the critical area(s) impacted by disability (academic and/or functional) and determine the disability-related need(s) of the student. The information provided in the training meets accountability mandates of IDEA to improve the achievement of students with disabilities.
