Dear ZCMS Families,

We want to inform you of an incident at school this morning. At approximately 9:56 AM, the building was placed on a soft lockdown (Code Yellow – Low Risk to Student Safety) out of an abundance of caution after a single bullet was found on a student during a routine interaction between the student and administration. Our School Resource Officer collected the bullet upon discovery.

Administration and our School Resource Officers reviewed camera footage and searched the entire building, with no further findings. Following a full investigation, the district lifted the soft lockdown at approximately 10:20 AM without incident. There are no further safety concerns at this time.

As you know, the safety of our students and staff remains our top priority, and we take every situation like this seriously to ensure a thorough response.

We ask for your partnership. Please take a moment to talk with your child about the importance of telling a trusted adult right away if they see or hear something concerning. If you or your child have any information that may help with the investigation, please contact the school office at 847-370-0231 or speak directly with one of our School Resource Officers.
