Greetings,
This week is Red Ribbon Week at Memorial Elementary School, a time to promote healthy choices and encourage students to live drug-free. Please refer to the flyer below for this year’s dress-up days and themes.
Last week, we held our Wiz Fit Assembly to get students moving and excited about fundraising. We have raised over $2,000 so far and are working toward our $3,000 goal! If we reach our goal, students will have the opportunity to pie Mr. Trafton, me, and one teacher to be named later. Thank you for your continued support!
On Friday, October 30, students are invited to wear their Halloween costumes to school! Please note that Memorial Elementary School will not be holding a Halloween parade. However, individual classes will participate in Halloween celebration activities at some point during the school day. Please be on the lookout for communication from your child’s teacher with additional details.
To ensure a fun and safe day for everyone, please keep the following costume guidelines in mind:
Students should remain in their costumes throughout the school day unless an emergency occurs.
Costumes may not include blood, weapons, or gore.
Masks that limit vision are not permitted.
Props are not allowed.
Students must wear shoes.
Costumes should be appropriate for recess and comfortable for lunch in the cafeteria.
Thank you for helping us make these upcoming activities fun, safe, and memorable for our students!
Take care,
Eric Larcomb & Jay Trafton
Important Information
Red Ribbon Week
Dear Families,
The Red Ribbon Week campaign is a week in which schools across the country take a unified stand to commit to a drug free lifestyle. At Memorial School we like to focus on making smart choices and encouraging healthy habits. To aid in this we are offering a week of healthy social emotional C.A.R.E.S. challenges with raffled prizes the week of 10/26-10/30. Be on the lookout for a packet explaining these challenges.
This year’s campaign motto is, “Make a Difference, Be a Hero, Stay Drug Free.” Students will spend time during morning meetings thinking about who their heroes are, discussing what makes a hero, as well as what super powers they themselves have or want to have. Students may have homework related to their superheroes and that homework will become part of a door decoration for their classrooms. The best door will win a pizza party donated through SoRock Coalition. SoRock will also be supplying all of our students with red wristbands. Red Ribbon Week comes with Dress Up days that are as follows:
Picture Retakes
School photo retakes are November 6th. Please make sure to bring in your photo packet if you are getting new ones done.
