RES Weekly Buzz
March 13, 2026
Many thanks to BLOOM for helping RPS bring Alison Campbell to present Resilient Parents and Kids. Alison led an engaging and interactive workshop that shared science-backed, practical strategies to help parents, caregivers, and educators reduce stress and prevent burnout. As the founder of unBurnt®, Alison introduced simple, real-time tools to help build resilience — both for ourselves and for supporting children as they manage stress and overwhelm at home and at school. Thank you as well to Fleur Harborside Cuisine for generously providing the space and delicious food for this event and helping make the evening possible.
Lets hope the weather continues to improve with warmer temperatures and sunnier days. The students have loved being able to enjoy some of their favorite recess activites and games now that the snow has dwindled away!
Have a wonderful weekend,
Amy
Opposite Day at RES
Friday, March 20th, is Opposite Day at RES! This is a whimsical theme day where staff and students can have fun getting creative—especially with what they wear. Try wearing clothes inside out, backwards, or mismatched to celebrate the spirit of the day.
Just remember that students should still be dressed in a way that allows them to comfortably and safely participate in all of their usual school activities. We’re looking forward to a fun day! 😊

Notes from the Nurse
Please click on the following link to review RES Illness and COVID Protocol for this school year. To keep our school healthy, it is important that all students follow school guidelines. If your child is displaying symptoms of illness, please keep them at home.
As winter weather gets colder and snowier, please make sure your child comes to school each day dressed warmly and has a jacket, snow pants, snow boots, hat, and gloves for outdoor recess.
With colder temperatures, comes dry skin and chapped lips! Encourage your child to use hand lotion and lip balm to help retain moisture and combat the dryness!
Make sure your child brings a water bottle to school every day.
Please remember to turn in a copy of your child's latest annual physical and immunization record.
If you have any questions or to report an illness, please call the RES health office at 978-546-1223.
School Garden Volunteers
🌱 Help Us Grow Something Special! Volunteers Needed for Our School Garden 🌱
We’re excited to begin a new chapter for our school garden in collaboration with the Rockport Garden Club. Together, we will relocate our vegetable garden and create a beautiful new pollinator garden—a space where students can learn, explore, and connect with nature.
These gardens will become living classrooms where children can discover how food grows, observe bees and butterflies at work, and experience the joy of caring for the earth.
We’re looking for volunteers to help bring this vision to life by:
• Assembling raised garden beds
• Preparing the new garden space
• Relocating the vegetable garden
• Planting and establishing a pollinator garden for bees and butterflies
Whether you love gardening or simply want to support a meaningful project for our students, your help will make a lasting impact.
If you’re interested in being part of this exciting project, please share your contact information so we can reach out with upcoming dates and details.
Together, we can create a vibrant garden that will inspire students for years to come!
Happy Spring!!! (Almost)

Get More Involved In Music!
In addition to music classes during the school day, there are lots of avenues to take lessons, hear concerts, and participate in ensembles outside of school.
Gloucester Music Works is a brand new brick and mortar music school started by the Brace Cove Foundation on Maplewood Ave in Gloucester. They offer free lessons and instrument use to those in financial need. Their opening session of lessons starting in November is free to all! For future sessions, if you don’t qualify for assistance through them, reach out to music teacher Nathan Cohen at ncohen@rpk12.org and he may be able to help you get access to scholarship lessons there. See their info flier and map for more info or reach out directly at lessons@glostamusic.org, call them at 351-217-6599, or visit their website.
Alexandra Grace Music Studio offers private instrumental and vocal lessons, group classes, and songwriting and recording workshops. They also offer internships. Located on Railroad Ave in Rockport, you can contact them at alexandra@alexandragracemusic.com, 978 879-7179, see their info flier or visit their website.
Independent Instructors are available as well, either in home studios or after school at RPS. Speak to one of the music teachers at RPS for help finding an appropriate teacher.
Ensemble Opportunities are available outside of RPS. Cape Ann Youth Chorus, which is open to students 8-18 years old, is directed by Thom Smoker and Kristina Martin and rehearses Monday afternoons at the Shalin Liu Center. Rockport Legion Band rehearses Thursday evenings and is directed by Logan LaRue. Northeast Massachusetts Youth Orchestras meet Mondays and have multiple ensembles available to wind and string players at different ability levels.
Live Music and Educational Opportunities abound through organizations like Rockport Music and Cape Ann Guitar Society. In addition to the world-class music that Rockport Music brings into RPS classrooms, students under 18 years old can receive free tickets to almost every concert at the Shalin Liu Center. Call the box office at 978 546 7391 and ask for free tickets!
