Meet Maca! Meet Maca!

Maca is new to the Hubbs Center and has been working here for about a month, now. She is a Community Ed Specialist and works at the front desk. That means she’s one of the first people you might see when you walk into the building, so don’t be afraid to say hi!

Here are some fun facts about Maca:

Question: What does Maca do at the front desk?

Answer: She helps students with their schedules, guides them to the correct rooms for classes or to take their tests, and provides assistance filling out registration forms and sign-in sheets if they forget their Hubbs badge.

Question: What are Maca’s favorite things about the Hubbs Center?

Answer: She loves the diversity of cultures and languages here and that everyone is so respectful to each other.

Question: What sort of work did she do before she came to Hubbs?

Answer: Maca worked as an Account Executive in Chile (South America). That’s pretty far from Minnesota.

Question: Where was Maca born and where did she grow up?

Answer: She was born and grew up in Santiago, Chile.

Question: What is her family like?

Answer: Maca’s family always makes time to eat together. They love dogs and cats and enjoy traveling too!

Question: What does Maca like to do in her free time?

Answer: She likes to read, listen to music, workout, roller skate, and sew.

Question: Has Maca traveled outside of the U.S.?

Answer: Yes, she has! She has traveled to Peru, Bolivia, Italy, Turkey, Czechia, and Argentina for vacations. Each trip was no longer than a month and she got to see and experience some pretty cool things.

Question: What did she like about traveling?

Answer: Maca liked trying the foods, seeing the cats, and riding in an air balloon in Cappadocia, Turkey. She also liked Machupicchu, seeing the 7 Colors Mountain in Peru, and visiting the Uyuni salt flat in Bolivia and the astronomical clock in Prague.

Now you can contact Metro Transit by text for non-emergency situations to silently report something that doesn’t look right on a bus, on a train or at a transit shelter. This service is also accessible via the Metro Transit Mobile App.
