Updates from Principal Bican
It has been wonderful to see so many of our families throughout the building this week! We strive to connect with 100% of our families on conference nights, and we always come very close. The support our families show for their children and for Meadowview is something we truly value. We appreciate your partnership in helping our students grow as learners and as positive members of our Meadowview school community.
Thank you, PTP!
We’d like to extend a big thank you to our PTP for providing our teachers with a hearty dinner on Tuesday night during conferences! The 12-hour conference days get long, so our teachers love not having to think about packing their dinners on one of the days! It takes planning, precise timing, grocery shopping, and a lot of loading, unloading, and clean-up to feed a crowd! We appreciate the way you take care of our staff!
We’d also like to extend a big thank you to everyone who volunteered to help at the Book Fair this week! We’ve had a great turn out with many of our families stopping by to take a look! If you still have conferences to attend this evening, don’t forget to swing by the Media Center to check out the Book Fair selection!

Wit and Wisdom Update
February is “I Love to Read Month.” Students at MVES have opportunities to celebrate reading in many different ways from reading in cozy book nooks, to our very own book fair, and partner reading. Here are some fun ways you can celebrate “I Love to Read Month” at home:
Create a Reading Nook: Dedicate a cozy corner with cushions, blankets, and easy access to books to make reading a special, comfortable experience.
Daily Family Reading Time: Set aside 15 minutes daily to read aloud together, which improves vocabulary and listening skills.
Host a Family Book Club: Select a book for everyone to read and discuss it over a themed snack or try a "book tasting" where family members explore different genres.
DIY Book Swap: Encourage kids to swap books they have already finished with friends or family members to discover new stories.
Interactive Reading Activities: Have children read to a pet, a stuffed animal, or record themselves reading to share with family.
Book-Themed Crafts: Create bookmarks, act out scenes, or make puppets based on favorite characters.
Reading Bingo: Create a Bingo board with challenges like "read under a blanket" or "read a mystery book" to encourage exploring new genres.
This month helps us celebrate and reminds us that reading is more than a skill; it's a way to explore new worlds, boost imagination, and build empathy. Happy Reading!

Recess & Outdoor Breaks
Please be sure to send cold weather gear with students each day! Students will go outside for recess and/or break if temperature is above 0 degrees (actual temperature or wind chill temperature). Often temperature fluctuates throughout the day, so while we may not go out for recess, classrooms may go out for afternoon break.
Online Attendance Form
Is your student ill? Do they have an appointment and will be late to school? Planning a vacation? All of these situations and more can be reported to the Meadowivew Office through our online attendance form! Attendance Tip!
Getting to school on time is just as important as being at school. Research shows that continued tardiness leads to poor attendance. Many of the most important parts of a student's day happen within the first 15 minutes. This is often when they have a time to socialize with their peers, orient themselves for the day, take care of necessary business, and connect with their teacher before the day starts. Never underestimate the power of the first 15 minutes of school!
End of Day Routine
Please make sure your child's teacher has an accurate, up-to-date plan for your child's dismissal at the end of the day.
When changes are needed, please communicate those changes with your child's teacher prior to the start of the school day. We cannot always guarantee teachers will see emails during the work day (as it depends on the activities they have planned with the students).
For EMERGENCY CHANGES, please communicate with the teacher and call the front office no later than 2pm. Changes to end of day routines are difficult for students and teachers. If at all possible please change YOUR routine instead of your students routine.
