Library Acitivites

Mrs. Maddox has been sharing some of our 2021-22 Texas 2X2 award books. Some highlights on these books:

I Am Every Good Thing by Derrick Barnes is a beautiful book that encourages readers to celebrate everything that makes them the person they are. Kids learn they can be a leader, an explorer, the life of the party, and an undisputed champion. It celebrates the diversity of all that we are.

The Yawns are Coming by Christopher Eliopoulos is about two best friends have big plans for their sleepover. They aren't going to go to bed at all–they'll stay up playing all night long. But then it happens: The YAWNS show up! And as much as they try to outrun and hide from them, it's no use!

Speak Up by Miranda Paul is a picture book that explains when something really matters, one voice can make a difference. This spirited, vibrant picture book celebrates diversity and encourages kids to speak up, unite with others, and take action when they see something that needs to be fixed or that is wonderful!

Mrs. Maddox's has a Library Shout out each Wednesday to recognize students that exemplify the Hippo Way in the Library. For example, helping another friend find a book, shelving books from the book cart, being kind to their friends, listening and participating in the lesson. Those that have earned the award are given a free book!

Digital Dig's
