Dear JAC Families,

We had a great night at the PTO Boo Bingo! Many thanks to the PTO and all the volunteers (JAC Staff, WA Students, and Parents) who helped make the event a success! We are very thankful for all the PTO does for our school.

No Fuss Fundraiser Update: We have currently raised 70% of our goal of $12,500.00, with donations from 110 families. Our current amount raised is $8,712.00. Please consider a donation to our PTO, see information below.

We are looking forward to seeing our families during Parent/Teacher Conferences next week.

Enjoy the weekend!

Ms. Kennelly and Mrs. Holmgren

Spirit Calls Spirit Calls

Thank you to the fantastic students who earned SPIRIT coupons this week for making our school a better place!

  • A student is super helpful in the classroom. Every week she remembers that the library baskets need to go downstairs to the library, which the teacher often forgets. This student is also the first to offer help whenever a task needs to be done.

  • A student helped a friend clean up while other people did not offer to help.

  • A student secretly shared something positive that a classmate did. She thought that this student should be recognized for helping out a classmate while others walked by.

  • When a teacher was cleaning supplies out of some of the lockers and moving them, a student saw that his teacher had her hands full and had dropped something. He picked it up and then helped her move all of the rest of the supplies. he was super helpful.

  • A student has shown respect, not only for his classroom but for his classmates. Wen a classmate got overwhelmed with computer troubles, he swept in to help. He calmly helped resolve the issue while reassuring his classmate. This is just one example but there are many, many more. He has been seen going out of his way to help keep the classroom clean, help others who needed it and redirect friends without needed to be asked. Excellent work!

  • A student was being so inclusive during recess. He could see that some of the boys were struggling to catch the ball, so whenever he caught it he would give it to them so they could play too. So proud of him!

RSBC: ELEMENTARY BUILDING PROJECT UPDATE

Another milestone- site selection! On October 27, the Robinson School Building Committee voted to move forward with the Abbot School site. We now know that whatever the final design looks like, this project will involve closing Robinson, it will serve grades PK–5, and be located at Abbot. Its central location keeps school boundaries (redistricting) more balanced than Farmer Way, which sits in the northern part of town and would have served students from the far south while nearby families were assigned to other schools.

Next, the committee is taking a closer look at the existing Abbot building. The committee learned that any reuse of that building will require major code upgrades; there is no low-cost way to keep it in service, whether as town/school offices or as school space. The real choices are to invest in it, leave it vacant, or demolish it, and all three are being studied. If Abbot needs investment either way, the question is how to get the most value from that investment for the town. Save the date for our next community forums on Tuesday, November 17, at 6:30 PM (Stony Brook Middle School and Zoom) or Friday, November 20, at noon (Zoom only). Details at robinsonschoolproject.com.
