Cache Connection

Dear CCSD Families,
As we enter October, I want to express my sincere appreciation to our students, staff, families, and community for helping us launch another successful school year. The start of 2025–26 has been one of the smoothest in recent memory—thanks to the preparation, professionalism, and teamwork demonstrated across every school and department. From the first bus routes to the first bell, it’s clear that Cache County remains a place where learning thrives and people care deeply about doing what’s best for students.
This fall also marks the beginning of a new Cache County School District tradition—the presentation of our Challenge Coins...
Lt. Gov. Henderson visited Mountainside Elementary to discuss literacy in our district. Her team met with a teacher panel and observed instruction across several grade levels.
The Cougars represented our district well with a positive school climate, a strong literacy system to support reading, and engaging instruction!

Cause for Applause
Our school district has four core values: Student Focused, Community, Character, and Excellence. Check out some of the ways our students and staff represent each value!
Student Focused
Students at Lincoln Elementary School explored plant, animal, and food sciences during the school's first Ag Day! Lincoln staff collaborated with Utah State University and other community partners to bring students an unforgettable hands-on learning experience!
Community
The USU Aggie Football Team visited Mountainside Elementary last week during lunchtime. Team members signed autographs, chatted with the students as they ate, visited the library, and played basketball and tag at recess. We love our Aggies!

Character
When the Green Canyon Wolves met newcomer Deseret Peak on the gridiron, the Golden Eagles expected another overwhelming loss. By halftime, they trailed by more than 60 points. But in an act of sportsmanship and kindness, a portion of the Wolves' student section joined the Golden Eagles fans and cheered for them. We are so proud of the character shown by these students!

The Influence of a Great Teacher
It doesn't seem that long ago, but I graduated from Soda Springs High School 45 years ago. This summer, I was able to connect with a lot of my classmates that I hadn't seen in a long time at our reunion, and it was great to visit and catch up with them.
It's funny that the person I have had the closest contact with from my high school days is not my classmates, but my high school basketball coach and counselor, Gerald Jolley. I stop by and visit him a couple times a year when I drive past Draper, and also talk to him on the phone. He turned 100 years old in May!
