Counselor Updates

Generation Texas Week

Thank you so much for helping your students participate in Generation Texas week dress up days! We loved seeing all the different outfits everyday to help us learn about pathways after high school. We celebrated by having guest speakers on announcements, playing videos about different careers, and we even had a special video made for Collins by Nurse Kendall’s son, who is in the military. Thank you for making the week such a success!

Children in Santa's Dreams Toy Drive 2022

The Conroe ISD PD is putting on its annual toy drive! Collection dates are November 14th - December 7th. If you would like to participate, please have your child bring an unopened and unwrapped toy to donate. Toys are welcome for any age, as the department will be giving gifts to children of all ages! Please have students drop off their gifts either with their teachers or at the front office when they arrive. Thank you so much for your support!

Gifted and Talented Updates

Referral requests for the Conroe Independent School District Gifted and Talented program will be accepted October 3 - December 16, 2022. Although the testing will not take place until late January, referral requests are accepted at this time. Referral requests can be made by the parents and/or campus staff. If you are interested in referring your child, you may want to discuss this with your child’s teacher. You may request a referral form from the front office or by emailing Lisa Lackey at llackey@conroeisd.net. You can also find the referral form and other GT information on the CISD GT homepage.

Nurse Kendall's Updates

5th Grade Girls Parent Reminder:

We will be conducting spinal screenings on November 29, 30, and December 1 on all 5th grade girls during PE time. If you want to opt your child out of screening, please provide a doctor note stating she was screened this school year or write a note requesting a religious exemption. These are due by November 28. Thank you!

Flu, RSV, Covid Update:

We are seeing increased cases of flu and a few Covid cases. If your child is sick please keep them home. Symptoms include cough, fever, congestion, headache, body aches and/or nausea and vomiting. RSV symptoms are like the common cold. It does not affect 10-12 year olds as severely as babies and toddlers but is very contagious. Please help stop the spread of illness by keeping your child at home when sick.

Technology Update

Parents, reminder this holiday season! Students should not attempt to sign in to the SSO if they are out of the country on holiday. Attempting to log in will cause the system to lock the account, and your student will not be able to access the SSO, even after returning to the U.S.
