Growth
At Jasper Junior High School, academic rigor means challenging students to think deeply, ask thoughtful questions, and explain their reasoning. Our goal is for students to understand what they are learning and apply it in meaningful ways. Whether they are supporting an argument with evidence, solving a challenging math problem, or investigating a scientific question, students grow when they have opportunities to work through challenges with guidance and support.
Families can encourage this growth by asking, “What challenged you today?” or “How did you arrive at that answer?” These conversations help students recognize that learning takes effort, mistakes offer opportunities to improve, and asking for help is part of making progress.
Speaking of progress, this is the second week that students have been asked to complete their data trackers. Each student will now be able to see a computer-generated line graph to monitor changes in their performance and identify areas for improvement. We’re eager to see students take the next step in holding themselves accountable for their academic growth. As always, we appreciate your continued commitment to our school and our community.
