Deer FamiliesDeer Hill School News . March 15, 2024

Hello, Deer Hill Families!

The last two weeks have gone by so quickly that I truly thought my next newsletter was scheduled for next Friday! Yesterday marked the end of term 2, and progress reports will be published in Aspen next Friday with teacher conferences the week of March 25. It's been a busy stretch and one that's best illustrated in pictures. I hope you enjoy the many included in this newsletter and that you have had a wonderful start to your long weekend.

All the best,

Alexandra L. Sullivan

Principal, Deer Hill School

P.S. Our next newsletter will be published on March 29, 2024.

Deer Hill Family Handbook

All Schools Chorus and Band Concerts: The All Schools Chorus Concert is March 20 and the All Schools Band Concert is March 21. Please note that BOTH concerts are now being held at Cohasset Middle High School and begin at 7pm. Music teachers will communicate what time performers should arrive.

Attention Grade 5 Families: Principal Mills from Cohasset Middle School and I collaborate closely to ensure a smooth transition to 6th grade for our current 5th graders. Please see this document which lists the dates of all planned transition steps.

Order Your Deer Hill T-Shirt: Please place your order on MySchoolBucks, and we'll send a t-shirt home with your child.

Deer Hill Happenings

Deer Hill's Student Advisory Council Update: On March 4 I met with the Deer Hill Student Advisory Council. Representatives from each class offered input on the search for a new superintendent by brainstorming the qualities the best candidate should have as well as the issues that will be important to tackle. Their thoughts included making sure that all stakeholders were listened to before decisions were made and considering carefully how much tech students are using because they need to be sure to write, too. Their feedback was shared with the chair of the search committee and will give voice to what's on the minds of our elementary population.

Deer Hill Family Dance: Many thanks to the PSO for the fabulous job they did hosting our first family dance. It was not your grandma's cotillion -- in addition to dancing led by an enthusiastic DJ, there was hula hooping, limbo, a photo booth, swag, and a buffet of treats. I think we have the start of a great new tradition!
