🐾 A Note from the Principal 🐾 My Purpose & Passion💙
Dear Booker Families, Staff, and Scholars,
First and foremost, I must stop to highlight our incredible teachers! Thank you for the unwavering dedication, passion, and excellence you bring to Booker every single day. Your commitment to building relationships, engaging scholars in meaningful learning, striving for success, and treating every child with kindness does not go unnoticed. Because of you, our students are growing academically, socially, and emotionally. You are the heart of our campus and the driving force behind our progress. I am deeply grateful for all that you do. Booker is better because of you.
We are in the FINAL stretch of the school year and we will finish strong! 🎉
Last week, our scholars showed perseverance, focus, and determination during STAAR Math. We are incredibly proud of their effort and the way they represented Booker with excellence. Now, we shift our focus to our End-of-Year (EOY) District Assessments, which begin this week.
📊 EOY Assessments This Week
Our scholars will participate in the following assessments:
- MAP Growth: K–5 Math and 3rd–5th Reading
- mCLASS: K–2 Reading
- Circle Assessment: PreK
- i-Ready & Amira Diagnostics: Selected grade levels
- Art & Music EOY Assessments
These assessments are critical. They measure student growth, determine readiness for the next grade level, and guide instructional planning, interventions, and enrichment for the upcoming school year.
⏰ Attendance & Tardies Matter Now More Than Ever
As we close out the year, every day and every minute counts.
- Ensure your child is present daily
- Arrive on time—instruction begins promptly at 8:05 AM
- Avoid early pickups unless absolutely necessary
Strong attendance ensures students have the best opportunity to demonstrate what they have learned. Let’s finish with the same commitment we showed during STAAR!
📌 Important Reminders
- We will be reviewing all affidavits and transfer student documentation to ensure alignment with district expectations. Families will be contacted if additional information is needed.
- Summer School Notifications will be sent home soon. The district has identified students who qualify.
- All PreK and Kindergarten ESL/Bilingual students qualify for summer school, so please be on the lookout for communication with details and next steps.
⭐ Booker Best = End-of-Year Success
As we prepare to celebrate the end of the year with graduations, classroom parties, and Field Day, we want all scholars to enjoy these special moments. These events are privileges, and we expect all students to demonstrate Booker Best Behavioral Expectations:
- Build positive relationships
- Engage in the learning
- Strive for success
- Treat others with kindness
Students who consistently demonstrate these core values will be able to fully participate in all end-of-year celebrations. However, any student who engages in bullying, fighting, or violations of the Student Code of Conduct may lose these privileges and will be subject to appropriate consequences. We appreciate your support in reinforcing these expectations at home so that every student can end the year on a positive and successful note.
💪 Finish Strong, Booker!
We are truly at the finish line, and this is where effort meets results. Our scholars have worked hard all year—now it’s time to show what they know across all grade levels.
Let’s continue to:
- Encourage confidence and a positive mindset
- Reinforce the importance of doing their best
- Celebrate growth and progress
Together, we are building a stronger future for our scholars. Booker is getting better, faster!
Striving for Excellence in Culture, Academics, and Results, Every Day!
With pride and appreciation,
Keisha Womack
Proud Principal
OUR TEACHERS & AIDES💖ARE THE HEARTBEAT OF BOOKER
Teacher Appreciation Week is here, and we invite you to help us celebrate the incredible educators who pour into our scholars every day. A small gesture can go a long way—encourage your child to write a note, make a card, or draw a picture to show their gratitude. If you’re able, a simple token such as a flower or a small gift card is always appreciated, but never expected.
Our teachers give their time, energy, and heart to ensure every child succeeds, and your support means so much. Let’s work together to recognize and uplift them each day this week.

Mindset of Mastery – No Mediocre Thinking Allowed
Booker Families,
Please take time to encourage your child and remind them why it is so important not to rush, but instead to do their very best on every test. District and state assessments matter because they help schools make important decisions about the support and opportunities students may need. A child’s performance can help determine whether additional academic support, intervention, summer learning, or enrichment and advanced opportunities may be recommended for the upcoming school year.
Assessments such as STAAR and TELPAS provide valuable information about your child’s academic progress and language development. These results help schools identify strengths, address learning gaps, and plan the right instructional supports to help each child grow. They can also help guide future academic pathways and readiness for more advanced coursework and opportunities.
State assessments and screeners serve as important indicators of student progress and college, career, and military readiness over time. They give schools and families a snapshot of how students are performing and where additional support may be needed to ensure long-term success. That is why we ask every student to slow down, stay focused, and give their best effort on every assessment.
So we need your help more than ever now! For the next fews weeks, we will need you to support and encourage your scholars to:
- Do their BOOKER BEST ON EVERY TEST
BE HERE ON TESTING DAYS
BE ON TIME ON TESTING DAYS
BE READY & LASER FOCUSED!
BE KIND AND RESPECTFUL TO THEIR PEERS & STAFF
BE WILLING TO WORK & LEARN
BE AN ACTIVE LISTENER
BE THEIR BEST SELF
BE AN ADVOCATE FOR THEIR OWN ACADEMIC SUCCESS
BE A PROUD BENGAL!
BE THE ONE THAT MAKES SOMEONE DAY!
STAAR IS HERE! IT STARTS THIS WEEK! LET'S KEEP THE MOMENTUM DONE!
GUESS WHO WILL BE MOVING ON UP, SOON?
