Deer RunNewsletterFriday, May 8, 2026

Deer Run Families,

We are excited to share that we have officially concluded the Ohio State Testing season. Thank you for your support in helping our students prepare and do their best!

As we move into the final weeks of the school year, we will be wrapping up our remaining assessments, including end-of-year MAP and DIBELS testing. These assessments help us celebrate student growth and guide our planning for continued success.

In addition, students will be enjoying end-of-year field trips and special activities, making this an exciting and memorable time for all. We would like to extend a special "Thank you" to our PTO for sponsoring all of the grade level field trips!

Thank you again for your ongoing support and partnership. We appreciate all you do to support our Deer Run community.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Dr. Robinson

Book Fair Announcement

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming! Students will preview the fair and make wish lists the week of May 4th-8th. The wish lists are a “just a guideline” for families and no one is obligated to purchase anything at the book fair. These same books can be found at the library or bookstore!

Students will be able to make purchases the week of May 11th-15th when they visit the library. Click here for each class’s purchase day. We accept cash, checks written to Dublin Library Association (DLA), credit card, and eWallet. Sales tax of 8% will be collected.

Check out our Book Fair website for more information, including an interactive flier, eWallet set-up, and an online store.

We are seeking volunteers to assist during setup, Family Shopping Night, and daytime sales. If you are interested, please go to the following link to sign up.

Thank you for your support!

Important City Update: New Micromobility Rules in Dublin

The City of Dublin recently updated its Micromobility Code to clarify which motorized devices are permitted and to strengthen safety expectations across the community. Families should be aware that mini-motorcycles are not allowed anywhere in Dublin, including on sidewalks, shared-use paths, roadways, or in parks. The updated code also requires all riders under the age of 16 to wear helmets, regardless of whether the device is electric or manual.

Parents who knowingly allow their child to violate these rules may face the same penalties as the rider, beginning with a misdemeanor for a first offense and increasing with repeated violations. These changes are designed to improve safety for everyone using Dublin’s transportation network. Families are encouraged to review these expectations with students and ensure that any devices being used comply with City regulations. More details, including examples and frequently asked questions, are available on the City’s website: Motorized Mobility in Dublin

2026-27 School Supplies (K - 5)

Deer Run Elementary families, our 1st Day School Supplies store is officially live. This is the easiest way to order the exact supplies teachers requested for next year. No searching multiple stores. No guessing brands. No wondering if you selected the right version. In just a few minutes, you can select our school, choose your child’s grade, and check school supplies off your list early and stress-free. Order here.

Incoming 6th Grade School Supply Kits for the 2026-2027 School Year!

School Supply Kits for the 2026-2027 School Year!

I know that many of us are trying to get through this school year, but we have finalized our school supply kits for each grade level for the 26-27 school year. Our teachers worked directly with 1st Day School Supplies to build this year’s lists. That means when you order, you are getting exactly what your child’s teacher requested. No substitutions. No second-guessing. It is a simple, organized way to start the school year confident and prepared.

This is one of our big fundraisers for our PTO and the money earned goes right back to our students and Grizzell! The kits are delivered to Grizzell and families can pick those up in August during our 6th grade orientation, grade level walkthroughs, or other times before the start of school. All orders must be placed by July 1st!

PLANNERS: A paper planner will not be a part of either grade level kits next year. The 6th grade will be utilizing and referencing paper planners and Grizzell will purchase those for incoming 6th graders. The 7th & 8th grade teams see students utilizing a variety of organizational strategies both hard copy and digital. If your student plans to use a paper planner for 7th or 8th grade, you will need to purchase that prior to the start of next school year. Order here.

Upload Absence Documentation via Campus Parent Portal

Dublin City Schools families now have a new, convenient option for submitting absence documentation through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Receive a medical note after reporting your child’s absence? Instead of sending a paper copy or a separate email, simply log in and upload it directly to the existing request.

After logging in, select More and then Absence Request. Click View Requests, locate the prior absence in the list, and open it. From there, select Upload Document and choose your file.

Using this feature saves paper, eliminates an extra trip to the office and reduces additional emails to attendance secretaries. It is a small step that helps streamline processes across Dublin City Schools. We appreciate families taking advantage of this new option to support efficient, timely communication.

Dismissal Changes

In the event of an emergency and the need to change a student's dismissal method be sure to send an email to the classroom teacher AND the attendance email (Dres_attendance@dublinschools.net). Teachers are extremely busy during the school day, therefore, it is not guaranteed that the teacher would have time to review the parent email prior to dismissal. Be sure to submit changes as early as possible to increase the likelihood that the communication will be received by our school team prior to dismissal.

Student Car Drop Off and Pick Up

As a reminder, car drop off and pick up for all students should take place at the back door of the school. Last school year, students were being dropped off at Grizzell, in the school parking lot, and in the neighborhood adjacent to the school. We want to ensure that all of our students are safely dropped off at school, therefore only the backdoor area should be used. Also, we also want to be considerate of our neighbors that live in the homes adjacent to the school. Therefore, adhering to this guidelines is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
