It's a great day to be a Bulldog! Bulldogs Don't Quit!

MES WeeklyScoopIt's a great day to be a Bulldog! Bulldogs Don't Quit!
This week we had our parent teacher conferences. The conferences were well attended and teachers were able to share face to face all the hard work their students have been doing. On behalf of the teachers and staff, I want to thank everyone that attended. Learning happens best when parents and school staff are partners.

Counseling Connection

This week in classroom counseling lessons, the kindergarten class learned about the importance of listening with our eyes, ears, and brains. We discussed examples of how to be a good listener throughout their day, then they were then able to put their new skills to practice by working together to assemble puzzles with their partners. They did a great job participating throughout the lesson!

Bulldog Skill of the Week is Showing Respect

1. Obey a request to stop a negative behavior. When you obey a request to stop a negative behavior, you show you can follow instructions. Being able to follow instructions is one form of showing respect.

  • By stopping behavior you may avoid getting in trouble.
  • There will always be people with authority over you. You must do what they say.
2. Refrain from teasing, threatening, or making fun of others. By refraining from these behaviors, it shows you understand that these can be hurtful.
  • If you are always making fun of people or threatening them, you won't have many friends.
  • People will only think of you as not a nice person

3. Give people their privacy. Sometimes people want to be left alone. You show respect by following their wishes.

  • Always Knock before entering a closed door.
  • Honor someone's desire to be left alone.

4. Get permission before using others property

  • Always return items that you borrow
  • If you damage a borrowed item, offer to repair or replace it.

5. Do not damage or vandalize property.

  • Accidents do happen, but they should be reported.
6. Avoid acting obnoxiously in public.

  • You make a good impression when you show good behaviors and use proper social skills.
  • You also represent others with your behaviors.
  • You should honor your parents, grandparents, teachers, and school with good behavior in public.

7. Dress appropriately in public.

  • People should dress to impress.
  • Being well groomed and well dressed make a good impression
  • Use good judgement when deciding what to wear. Where you are going usually determines what you wear.

Chocolate Bar Sales

We have finished our chocolate bar sales. If you have any unsold chocolate bars and can't sell them, please return them to the MES office ASAP. Also, please turn in any money that you have collected. We will be contacting students and parents with unsold chocolate bars next week. We want to thank everyone for helping MES with this fund raiser. The students had a good time and we are close to meeting our goal of raising $8000 . Our top sellers are: Jase Durant, Camden Esslinger, Myles Haftarczyk, Brycen Nickelson, Charlotte Schild, Cheyenne Wassenberg, Isaac Olvera, Shaylee Anderson, Jocasta Holmes, Theia McClung. They will get to go out to Pizza Hut with Mr. Wheeler.

Handbook Highlight

We will be looking to clean up some language in our handbook that pertains to the use of cell phones on school grounds. There has been some questions about when and where cell phones are allowed to be used. While cell phones can be a great tool for parents to ensure their child is safe, they can also create other issues that interfere with the orderly function of the school. That is why we have asked students not to be using cell phones while in line waiting for the bus to pick them up.
