Families, as we move deeper into the quarter, this is a perfect time to pause and check in on your student’s progress. We are at the half way point of the second quarter.

If your student has missing assignments or is feeling behind, please remind them that every day is a new opportunity to catch up and stay on track. Our teachers are here to support, and we want every student to feel confident and successful as we head toward the end of the quarter.

Thank you for your continued partnership in helping your student stay motivated, accountable, and engaged in their virtual learning journey.

Warm regards,
Kevin Aikins
Principal, Queen Creek Virtual Academy

The end of the semester is quickly approaching, making this a crucial time for all students to assess their progress and establish a strong plan for success. All students should immediately check their current grades and course progress. If you are ahead of pace, kudos! Maintain your excellent speed and tenacityβ€”you've earned a pat on the back. If you are currently off pace and behind, please dedicate a couple of focused hours during upcoming weekends and the Thanksgiving break to catch up on any missing or incomplete assignments.

Key Deadlines and Contacts

Please note the specific coursework deadlines based on your student's grade level:

  • Kindergarten to Grade 6: All coursework must be completed in SchoolsPLP by Monday, December 16th. For any K-Grade 6 concerns, please contact Mrs. Lael Rogers lrogers@qcusd.org or via the SchoolsPLP chat. Grade school students will complete the Midterms virtually at the end of their coursework.

  • Grades 7 to 12: All coursework must be finished by Tuesday, December 10th. Classes will close out immediately after the final exams on December 17, and no extensions will be given.

Action Steps for Grades 7-12 Success

For our Grades 7 through 12 students, focused effort is required to complete coursework and prepare for the upcoming in-person final exams. If you are behind pace or currently have a low grade, please contact your subject facilitator immediately to create an action plan to improve your grade or get back on track. Students are also strongly encouraged to reach out to their subject facilitators to redo coursework:

  • Resubmit Coursework: Resubmit projects and labs that did not receive a satisfactory grade.

  • Retake Assessments: Retake quizzes and unit tests where you scored low.

Please Note: The decision to accommodate or approve resubmissions and retakes is at the facilitator's discretion. Courses of action will vary, so students must contact their individual facilitators soon to discuss options. Click here for subject facilitators information and tutoring times.

In-Person Finals Exam Preparation (Grades 7-12)

In-person final exams will be administered at Newell Barney College Prep on the following dates: December 11, 12, 15, 16, and 17. To prepare effectively, students should review their guided notes and unit tests. Furthermore, carefully taking the "Cumulative Exam Review" is highly recommended as it will give students a strong preview and sample of what the finals exam is like. Remember, time is short, so complete all work by the December 10th target date before final exams begin.

πŸ¦ƒ Poll Results: Your Favorite Thanksgiving Dish! πŸ₯§

Last week, we asked all our K-12 students an important question: What is your favorite Thanksgiving dish? The results are in, and it's clear that the traditional main course still reigns supreme, with turkey gobbling up the most votes! Coming in a close second and third were everyone's favorite creamy sides: mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. Rounding out the top six were ham, the classic dessert pumpkin pie, and stuffing. It looks like our virtual school community is ready for a delicious, traditional Thanksgiving feast!
