It is beautiful that all students get to receive ashes to remind them that the importance of this life is really what Jesus has done for us. In visiting classrooms this week, I heard and saw Lent! Classrooms were deciding what they would do together for prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Some have even agreed to give up both snacks during the day - there may be some hungry kids at pick up! Others are adding in prayers such as the one after meals. Another class has a challenge for each day of a sacrifice - parents be ready to play some board games on the no screen days!
I love how excited and committed students are to give something up. I think it is important for all of us to discuss how the sacrifice will help us get to heaven. I questioned my own daughter when she told me she was thinking about giving up wearing tennis shoes to work. She assured me it would be a huge sacrifice!
We are so blessed that our teachers are such good examples for the students and each other. I hope and pray that your sacrifices, prayers and almsgiving help you have the best Lent ever!

Vacation Bible School Save The Date: VBS this year will be the week of June 15-19. Children's registration will open on Sunday, March 6th. SHOJ Rosary Ministry
St. Benedict Rosary Prayer Group will meet on the little playground at 3:06 each Wednesday to pray The Rosary (or at least part of it) for SHOJ school. All are welcome, even littles can come play while you pray. Please join us.
