Our surprise valentine board has come along beautifully Our surprise valentine board has come along beautifully

Dear Families,

FOWE family game night: Please join us from 6-7:30 for a free family game night. BYO board or card game or try something new from our collection. Screen free games only please. All are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

The 4th/5th grade band and chorus concert this past Thursday was really beautiful. The number and variety of pieces they have learned and their capacity to hold group focus, referencing each other and the director, is remarkable. What’s more is that their growth as vocalists and musicians is evident in the musicality in each piece. The WES chorus and band will be joining Shoreham and Salisbury this coming Tuesday, 2/17, 6:30 at Salisbury for a big band sound and an opportunity to make music with a larger cohort.. All are welcome. A special thanks extended to Sarah Metcalf for her remarkable instruction and support of the students.

5th grade Spanish Assessment: This coming Tuesday, 5th grade students will be taking a brief Spanish assessment during their regular Spanish class time. The assessment is based on the ACTFL (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages) proficiency guidelines. The assessment is being administered this year as part of an on-going endeavor to create an effective linkage between MUMS and the elementary Spanish program. For more information go to web-based assessment . The results will be used for curriculum development, not for individual grades or evaluation.

Surprise Valentine exchange slightly delayed. We needed to delay the exchange until Monday due to slender staffing on Thursday and Friday. It does mean the bulletin board is still laden with completely original cards, filling the front hall with warmth. Feel free to stop by at drop-off to see the display.

100th day of school, Tuesday 12/10 - K/1 commemorated this day by engaging in many mathematical activities throughout the day related to 100.

Lunch help: For next week we need a volunteer for Thursday. If this day works for you, please let me know or sign up directly on the February/March lunch calendar. If you can schedule ahead into March, please do. It would be great to have the week after vacation filled before we head out for vacation.. Thanks so much.

Please email me cjohnston@acsdvt.org or call if you have any questions (802-545-3301).

Once again, stay warm! Christina
