"June is the pearl of summer, shining with warmth and joy." — L.M. Montgomery

A note from Mr. Lee A note from Mr. Lee

As we begin to close the chapter on another outstanding school year, I found myself reflecting on three moments from this week that perfectly capture what makes Carter such a special place.

The first was welcoming back dozens of former Carter Cougars for their Senior Clap Out. Watching these graduates walk through our halls in their caps and gowns was a powerful reminder of the impact middle school has on a young person's journey. Middle school is where students begin to discover who they are. They develop friendships, overcome challenges, build confidence, and start to morph into the people they will become. For our current students, it was inspiring to see what lies ahead. For our staff, it was a proud moment to see the incredible young adults they have become. Once a Carter Cougar, always a Carter Cougar.

The second special moment was our 8th Grade Dance. Last night, our cafeteria was filled with laughter, music, dancing, and something that can sometimes be hard to find in today's world: kids simply being kids. It was wonderful to watch students come together, celebrate one another, and enjoy an evening of pure fun. What made the night even more special was seeing so many staff members volunteer their own time to be there. Their presence speaks volumes about the relationships that have been built over the past three years. Our students know they are cared for, and events like this are a reminder that school is about much more than academics.

Finally, I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Laura Gabriel for her years of service as Carter's Booster Club President. Laura has given countless hours, endless energy, and a tremendous amount of heart to support our students, staff, and school community. Many of the opportunities, events, and experiences our students have enjoyed over the years have been made possible because of her dedication and leadership. Carter is a better place because of her commitment, and we are incredibly grateful for all she has done.

As I look at these three moments together, I see the story of Carter: people investing in people. Whether it is former students returning to celebrate where they started, current students making memories with their friends, or a volunteer giving her time to make our school stronger, it all points back to what makes this community special. Thank you for being part of the Carter family.
