Choral Notes
Looking Ahead to May 18-22
Greetings Choir Parents and Students!
I think it is safe to say that we’ve made it, Wildcats! It is our final Friday of the 2025-2026 school year, and only a few short days remain between us and summer break! We are incredibly proud of all you have accomplished this year. Together, we have grown as people, excelled as musicians, and continued raising “The Standard” for choral music at The Grove. Congratulations on an outstanding year!
This week’s update contains several important reminders and end-of-year updates we would like you to review before heading into summer break, including information regarding fee payments, travel opportunities, class rosters, leadership updates, and important dates for next year.
While additional information will continue to be shared throughout the summer, we are excited to let you know that our 2026-2027 choir calendar is nearly complete and will be available before we leave for summer break. We encourage families to use this resource as they begin planning vacations, appointments, and other commitments for the upcoming school year.
Parents, we know many of you have already generously given your time and support this year, but we still need your help as we prepare for another exciting season ahead. The WGHS Choir Parent Organization plays a vital role in helping us provide meaningful opportunities and experiences for our students. Please take a moment to review the volunteer opportunities listed below and consider how you might be able to serve. With strong parent support, we are able to divide responsibilities, expand opportunities for students, and continue building a thriving choir community. If you have any questions, please contact Michaela Gieter at president@wghschoirbooster.org.
We look forward to seeing many of you tonight for our final performance of the school year! Please let us know if we can assist you or your student in any way. We are deeply grateful for your support, encouragement, and partnership throughout this year.
Thank you for helping make the WGHS Choir Program such a special place.
Mr. Cooley and Ms. Herriage

2026-2027 Registration is Now Open
The goal of the WGHS Choral Department is to provide exceptional learning experiences for every student in our program. One of the ways we achieve this is by offering students access to individual voice lessons through the Music Enrichment Program.
This program serves a two-fold purpose:
It provides interested students with individualized musical training.
It enhances the student’s individual performance level, which in turn positively impacts the larger choral ensemble.
By choosing to participate in the Music Enrichment Program, students will receive high-quality, one-on-one instruction from degreed professionals. Through this instruction, they will deepen their understanding of healthy vocal techniques and performance practices. In addition, students enrolled in this program will have access to enriching opportunities such as solo performances and master classes throughout the year.
Choir Placements for 2026-2027
All students have completed their assessments and we are in the process of reviewing their products, and considering how to best serve our students next year. Hearing our students perform these basic tasks as individuals provides us with the opportunity to encourage them, provide individual feedback, and develop plans for our students and the future of our program.
Announcements about choir placements will be made no later than TUESDAY, May 19th via SMORE and Google Classroom. Rosters will include all students who are currently registered and/or indicated they are in the process of a schedule change. More information about class placements and opportunities to request more information will be included in our post on Tuesday.
Still need to add Choir to your schedule for next year? Email Mr. Cooley and he will help you get squared away ASAP.
Opportunities to Serve - We Still Need You!
As the Walnut Grove Choir Program continues to grow, our need for additional parent support will continue to grow as well. We cannot grow and expand our ability to serve students without you. Assistance and opportunities to serve exist in the following areas:
Areas of Growth and Opportunity for Next Year
- Assistant Treasurer (Monthly Meetings)
- Member(s) At Large (Monthly Meetings)
- Committee Chairs (Periodically Through Year, Task Specific)
- Uniform Coordinators (Few Days Each Semester)

Interested in serving or becoming more involved with the CPO, reach out to our Vice President, Jessica Blackmon (vicepresident@wghschoirbooster.org) or Michaela Geiter (president@wghschoirbooster.org) to learn how you can get plugged in next year!
