CCA's February Character Trait: Goodness
The February character trait of the month at CCA is goodness. I asked three students what goodness means to them, and here’s what they said. Nora, in 5th grade said, “Goodness is when someone helps you and you are grateful for their help.” Roman, from 4th grade said, “Goodness is being thankful and grateful.” Miyah, in 9th grade said, “Goodness means when someone needs help and you help them.” Psalm 107:1 Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever! -Jacob

The History of Valentine's Day
While some believe that Valentine’s Day is celebrated in the middle of February to commemorate the anniversary of Valentine’s death or burial—which probably occurred around A.D. 270—others claim that the Christian church may have decided to place St. Valentine’s feast day in the middle of February in an effort to “Christianize” the pagan celebration of Lupercalia. Celebrated at the ides of February, or February 15, Lupercalia was a fertility festival dedicated to Faunus, the Roman god of agriculture, as well as to the Roman founders Romulus and Remus.

CCA Chapel ⛪
Chapel on Friday was opened with singing by the Worship team. Fifth grade then led students in pledges to the American flag, Christian flag and Bible. A prayer was said and Sandra Poff brought the message. She asked Colten and Parker to each pick 3 students that they thought could 1) stand on one foot holding a plate, 2) toss a block and catch it, and 3) stack blocks with one hand. In round 1, each team had 30 seconds to stack as many blocks as they could. The winning team got 8. In round 2 students had 45 seconds. The rules changed a little; more blocks could be thrown, and students holding the plates could now stand on both feet. The winning team’s blocks were stuck together in a cube instead of stacked one by one on top of each other. It had a better foundation.
Sandra asked, “Why is there so much strength when I trust God to help me instead of taking matters into my own hands?” As Christians we were not made to be alone. We were made to lift each other up and help others so they don’t have to deal with things on their own. Our relationship with God is the only thing that matters. Ephesians 4.
Having a good foundation is crucial in your walk with the Lord. As believers, together we can handle a lot of difficult situations. –Sophia
Survey Says:
This week we surveyed students to find out if they would rather have a cookie or a cupcake. Ninety students were surveyed and cookie won with 61 votes to cupcakes 29. Fun fact about cookies is: the world's largest cookie is over 102 feet wide, over 40,000 pounds and was baked by Immaculate Baking Company in North Carolina. --Kynlee
