Celebrating 20 years of success!

Clark Weekly News(1/12/24)Celebrating 20 years of success!

New Info this Week (or needs to be repeated)

MANY of the textbooks and codes that were on order arrived this afternoon. You can email ljudd@irsc.edu to see if your items arrived.

Nominations needed! Is there a staff member who has made a difference in your life (students) or your child's life (parents)? If so, each month we award 2 staff members with the traveling Crane Award at our all staff meeting. To submit a nomination, please email ljudd@irsc.edu NO LATER THAN 1/16.

The next Blood Drive is Tuesday, January 16 from 9:00-2:00. Sign up here https://www.oneblood.org/donate-now/scheduler.html?locationId=1400105 to save lives, get a long sleeved shirt and $20 gift card. Also, the more blood collected at our drives = more scholarship money for our students! Waivers for 16 and 17 year old students in the front office.

Boys and Girls Club is hosting two amazing opportunities! Drone pilot and Skilled trades training is available. Limited seats. See the attached flyers!

Reminder when paying for anything at Clark with a check, it must be made payable to IRSC/ Clark. Sadly, the bank has been kicking back checks made only to Clark.

Interested in developing leadership skills? Rotary, the organization that sponsors our Interact Club, is hosting an intensive leadership experience where you develop your skills as a leader while having fun and making connections. Clark students who attended in the past loved the experience. Applications are due soon! See Dr. Bonds for the application and for details.

Clark yearbooks are still available for preorder. The price has increased to $70. Purchase your yearbook online at yearbookforever.com or see Mrs. Gribble or Ms. Dunn with cash or a check made out to Clark/IRSC. Don’t delay - secure your yearbook now.

Honor Society invites have been sent to Clark and IRSC emails. There are four honor societies at Clark, so students may have received multiple invites. Students must accept the invite for each honor society that they are invited to via email or form the honor society sponsor. In addition, students will need to fill out the induction ceremony RSVP form by January 19th. It is a combined ceremony for all four honor societies. Congratulations student scholars!

***Science honor society invites are delayed. We hope to have them to you Tuesday.***

Celebrations and Gratitude

Our first assembly of 2024 was held Tuesday during block 1. These students were nominees for the pillar of Respect: Vlada Goers, Gerard Grate (accidentally left off the slide), Kara Chavez, Katalin Watkins, Colton Stewart, and Ava Lombardo. Kara Chavez was the winner of the pillar of Respect, though all were very worthy nominees! Mrs. Woodard also introduced Responsibility as January's pillar and very important info shared related to your digital footprint. The full powerpoint is attached.

Congratulations to Gretchen Howe who was just awarded the South Florida Fair scholarship!

The following seniors have been nominated to represent Clark in the extremely prestigious Palm Beach Post Pathfinder awards: Art- Bones Rowell; Business Sammie Thompson; Career and Tech Ed- Olivia Angervil; Communications- Lexie Moxley; Community Involvement- Jasmine Nunez; Computer Engineering and Technology- Ben Christy; History/Political Science- Gretchen Howe; Literature- Michael Coutts; Science- Taylor Wright; Sports- Lucas Hastings; Theater Arts- Christina Josie and World Language- Georgia Smith. HOBY Youth Leadership Florida East Seminar - DO YOU WANT TO ATTEND?

At HOBY, we believe leadership is a skillset to be learned and not a position to be held. We also know that leadership abilities are not defined by gender, race, or socioeconomic status, and we encourage you to consider all sophomores in your nomination. While young leaders often have excellent academic records, nominees should not be based exclusively on GPA. Please consider leadership potential, as taken on in all areas of life, when making your nomination.

HOBY is a great fit for students who: are passionate about their communities. have leadership potential. understand and relate to the experiences of others. are curious and eager to learn. are interested in service. are adaptable and self-reflective. like to collaborate and work with others. demonstrate good character. have a strong sense of integrity. are excited to connect with peers across the state.

Email kstastny@irsc.edu if interested. Check out more info here : Home | HOBY Youth Leadership

Do you know where you want to attend college? As I continue to receive tons of emails from many different colleges and some presenting different opportunities, I'm going to add this information to my Prospective Colleges and Offerings Google Doc

HOSA opportunities and updates

HOSA hosted 2 exciting events this week. HOSA members received a rare opportunity to observe, participate, and learn from 2 selective admission Health Science programs at IRSC.

Collage 1 - Anatomage Table (Anatomy & Virtual Dissection Table) and Radiography Lab Tour

CALC dual-enrolled students Sara Anderson and Rachel Cannon journeyed through the Anatomy in 3D on January 10, 2024 at the Massey Campus. Sara and Rachel were also provided a comprehensive tour of the Radiography Laboratory.

Future Healthcare Professional – Shadowing Physical Therapy Assistant program at IRSC

CALC dual-enrolled student Rachel Cannon is preparing for her HOSA Regional competitive event in Physical Therapy by attending the ROM – Range of Motion Physical Therapy Lab at the Massey Campus on January 10, 2024. We are desperate for coverage 10:45-2:30 on Thursdays. We will train… let us know if you can help for an hour or more of that time. Many thanks to those who have said YES!

PASS meeting- the presentation is attached. We are so grateful and all in attendance learned a lot of vaping as well as ways we can support adolescents emotionally. We look forward to having the presenters back in May for our Student Development Conference days.
