It is an honor to introduce myself as the principal of Tehaleh Heights Elementary. My name is Jennifer Knight and I have been in education for 25 years as a teacher, ELL Specialist, GLAD (Guided Language Acquisition and Design) Trainer and Coach, Bilingual Program Coordinator, Assistant Principal and now, Principal.

Like you, I am a parent as well. My husband Mark and I have two children, Andrew is finishing up his AA Degree at Green River Community College and will be pursuing a career in Fire Service and Elizabeth will be starting her senior year at Fife High School. As I watch them come and go from work, school or time with their friends, I realize that my role as their mom will be changing. I will no longer be in front leading and having them follow, but that now I will be beside or slightly behind them as it is my job to let them take the lead of their future.

Each year I still get excited for the start of the school year and the moment the students walk through the doors! As you send your student off to school this year, we want to partner with you so that one day your student will be confident in taking the lead of their own future and when they look back at their time at Tehaleh Heights, they will know that we kept our promise to know, value and support each and every student!

Curious about school supply shopping lists? You’re off the hook! The District is asking for a $25 donation from each student, made payable via the payment portal on the Family Access website, and our school will handle the shopping on our behalf! https://www.sumnersd.org

One of the most exciting things about starting a new school year is finding out who will be your teacher! THE is full of AMAZING staff and they have gone through a very thoughtful and deliberate system of placing students. Our staff is deeply committed to providing each and every student a successful learning experience at Tehaleh Heights Elementary. Many factors are considered before assigning student to classes. Factors carefully considered included, but are not limited to:

• Class Size
• Academic, social, developmental and special needs
• Student learning style

We appreciate your input and value your partnership. Know that many staff members are involved in the placement process to ensure we have the best outcomes for all students.

Class lists will be available through Skyward on August 26th at 4:00pm

Teachers will be reaching out on August 24th to introduce themselves and schedule a Family Connection time for you and your student. The first day for kindergarten is September 9th @ 9:00am and the Cheers & Tears Event will take place in the Launch Pad after drop off!
