Attendance Attendance

Attendance Matters

It is incredibly important to have daily school attendance for your child's success. Every day at school offers a new opportunity for learning, growth, and connection. When students are in class consistently, they build a strong foundation, develop essential skills, stay connected and form good habits.

We understand that sometimes absences are unavoidable due to illness or family emergencies. However, we ask that you prioritize sending your child to school every day they are healthy. Even missing just a few days here and there can add up and make it challenging for them to keep pace with their peers.

If your child must be absent, please notify our PEIMS clerk, Heather Moffitt, as soon as possible and work with us to ensure they catch up on any missed work. Please email or send any doctors and/or parent notes within 3 days of the absence. You can email at: heather.moffitt@rcisd.org

Thank you for your partnership in your child's education. Your commitment to their daily attendance makes a significant difference!

Cell Phones

As a result of the 89th Texas Legislative session, House Bill 1481 was passed and signed into law this summer. This means that all public school students in Texas, including RCISD students, will be expected to store their cell phones securely out of sight during school hours. Specifically, the law states, “a student is prohibited from using a personal communication device while on school property during the school day.”

Students will be allowed to use their cell phones before and after school; they may not have their phones in use or visible after the first bell, and before the last bell of the day.

As we navigate the implementation of this recently passed legislation (HB 1481) we would like to thank our parents for your continued partnership. We encourage you to talk to your students in the coming weeks as summer winds down, so they are better prepared to be without their communication device during the school day. Thank you for your support!
