Important Updates to Summer School Days & Hours
*This change does NOT include summer driver education.*
To better support student learning and provide a more balanced summer experience, summer school will now run Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:25 p.m.
This adjusted schedule allows students to enjoy three-day weekends each week, while still ensuring we fully cover all required course content and maintain the rigor and expectations necessary for success.
HF believes this change creates a strong balance—maximizing focused instructional time during the week and giving students extended time to rest, recharge, or manage other summer commitments.
Please review your calendars and plan accordingly. Additional details and any program-specific information will be shared as we get closer to the start of summer school.
Summer School Dates
Summer School Semester 1: June 8 - 25 (Originally posted as June 8 -26)
Summer School Semester 2: June 29 - July 16 (Originally posted as June 29 - July 17)
Days/Times: Mondays - Thursdays from 8 a.m. - 1:25 p.m.
Summer School classes are in-person. Students are allowed up to 2 days of absence each semester. If a student is absent for more than 2 days, they are dropped from the class.
The start time for athletic summer camps will be after 1:30 p.m. to ensure students have access to both opportunities.
Please also note: If your student has requested to take a summer school course, the fees have been uploaded to your account. The fees must be paid prior to enrolling your student in the class, so please make the payment as soon as possible to guarantee a seat for your student.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Associate Principal Craig Fantin at craig.fantin@hf233.org. Thank you for your continued partnership and support.

Help Our Design Thinking Students' Community Art Project
Mr. Willard-Rose's Senior Design Thinking students are creating a community art project, and would love for you to be part of it. Stop by to paint a rock or clothespin with a positive message, bright colors, or a little encouragement for a stranger.
Afterward, students will hide the creations around the Homewood and Flossmoor area. When someone finds one, they can scan the QR code, snap a picture, and post it to social media. Together, they will build a joyful online gallery filled with messages of hope, kindness, and community connection.
You only need to pop by for a few minutes. Bring family, friends, kids, neighbors, anyone who wants to paint and pass along a little positivity. Come say hi. Paint with us. Pass it on.
Here's to Our Future Educators!
This week we celebrated a special group of students who are choosing a path that truly makes a difference as part of Educators Rising's #NationalSigningDay: Congratulations to our Introduction to Education Seniors who have committed to majoring in Education at their respective colleges/universities: Margaret Stapleton, Mariah Nellum, Rayna Ward, Angelena Alborn and (not pictured) Evania Regas!
"These students are stepping into a profession that shapes the future and we are excited to see the impact they will make in their classrooms and beyond," says Ms. Ortberg.
VTV Wins Big at MMEA HS Video Festival!
