Shaping the Future of Currituck County Schools
Currituck County Schools is beginning an important process to shape the districtโs next strategic plan. Our current strategic plan, introduced in 2021, has guided the district through the current school year. CCS is proud of the meaningful progress made through this plan and recognizes that continuous improvement requires us to regularly reflect on where we are and where we want to go next.
Where We Are Now
As the current plan comes to a close, CCS has begun developing the districtโs next strategic plan in partnership with Dr. Mitch Owen of Mitchen Leadership and Organization Development. The strategic planning process will help us build upon what is working well, identify current and emerging needs, and establish strategic priorities that will guide how we focus our efforts and resources moving forward.
Members of the districtโs Strategic Planning Core Leadership Team recently participated in a full day of preparation and training to help lead this work. The Currituck County Board of Education and Currituck County Board of Commissioners also participated in the first listening session, sharing perspectives on CCSโs strengths, opportunities for continued growth and improvement, and their vision for the districtโs future.
What Comes Next
Stakeholder engagement will be an important part of the process. In the coming months, CCS will hold additional listening sessions and conduct interviews to gather feedback and perspectives from individuals throughout our schools and community. This input will help inform the development of a strategic plan that reflects our districtโs priorities and provides a clear framework for the years ahead.
Together, weโre reflecting on where we are, envisioning where we want to go, and planning the path forward. Watch for additional updates and opportunities to engage as the strategic planning process continues.
Tech Tip of the Week
Before Sharing, Be Sure to Check & Verify
Itโs easy for old posts, announcements, alerts, and news stories to resurface online and look like theyโre happening right now. The information may have been accurate when it was first shared, but that doesnโt mean itโs still current or applies to your situation. Before sharing something, take a moment to check the date and details, including where the information came from and who it applies to. This weekโs Tech Tip is a simple reminder that a quick check can help keep outdated or out-of-context information from spreading.
