Welcome to Quarter 2

Greetings to all!

Congratulations on helping your student complete the 1st quarter! Now...Welcome to the 2nd quarter of the school year! As we navigate through the time change and holiday breaks to come, here are a few tips to support your child's success:

  1. Consistent Routine: Maintain a consistent daily routine to help ease the transition during the time change. Consistency provides a sense of stability for your child.

  2. Holiday Learning: Incorporate learning into holiday activities. Whether it's through festive crafts, cooking, or reading holiday-themed books, there are plenty of opportunities to make learning enjoyable.

  3. Healthy Habits: Ensure your child gets enough sleep and maintains healthy eating habits during the holidays. A well-rested and nourished mind is better prepared for learning.

  4. Communication is Key: Stay connected with your child's teachers to stay informed about their progress. Open communication enhances the partnership between home and school.

Wishing you a joyful and successful quarter ahead.

Thank you for helping your student be a #PowerPlayer

Counselors' Corner

It is vital that families be fully informed about Snapchat before they allow their child to download the app. There are many things to be cautious about, and there are features on the app that students can access that many adults may be unaware of. This article from Common Sense Media provides an excellent overview of Snapchat:

Important Message About Attendance

Good attendance for your student begins on the first day of the school year. Consider the following facts:

  • Chronic absenteeism may prevent children from reaching early milestones.

  • Chronically absent students have difficulty keeping up with the pace at which they are expected to learn and grow.

  • Students who are absent even a day or two every few weeks fall behind their peers.

  • Irregular attendance can be a better predictor of whether students will drop out before graduation than test scores.

  • Consistent, on-time attendance is a habit that lasts into adulthood.

Nurse's Health Message

If your child is sick please keep them home. Should they need to be seen by Wellness, you can call for a walk-in appointment or as a curbside visit. They are at CRMS Monday and Weds 8am-3:30pm 410-754-9580. They can also be seen at CRHS on Tuesday and Thursday from 8am-3:30pm 410-754-0750. Please do your part in limiting germs spreading through our school.

Six grade students will need TDAP and Meningitis vaccines before they can start 7th grade. As your child is seen at the Doctor this year, make sure they are getting their shots so you are not scrambling at the last minute. Please provide a copy to the school nurse once completed.

MESSAGE ABOUT BUS RIDES AND OTHER TRANSPORTATION REQUESTS

Students are not permitted to ride a different bus from their assigned daily school bus. Parent/Guardian notes will not be accepted giving permission for a student to ride a different bus home with another student/to a different address. Please note, middle and high school students ride our buses together. In addition, in the event of an emergency, bus drivers have a roster of students assigned to their bus.

With regard to calls for students to NOT ride the bus in the afternoon...PLEASE MAKE SURE TO CALL THE OFFICE PRIOR TO 2:15PM FOR ANY NOTIFICATIONS ABOUT RIDE ARRANGEMENTS. It is very difficult for our office staff to get messages to students at the end of the day about transportation changes. We will do our best, but we really need your help with contacting and informing the school earlier.
