CCA's April Character Trait: Gentleness
The April character trait of the month is gentleness. I asked three students what gentleness means to them, and here are their responses. Kynlee from 9th grade said, “It means being careful with others,” Ashlynn from 4th grade said, “It means being kind to others.” Kennedy from 3rd grade said, “It means being kind to others and not hurting them or their feelings.” Gentleness, translated from the Greek word "prautes," is a quality of character that demonstrates kindness, humility, and a gentle spirit, even in the face of adversity. Students have been focusing on gentleness at CCA and choosing their words carefully this month. -Jacob
Devotion Corner
Parents, Grandparents, and Staff, we thought you might enjoy this devotion on gentleness from “Crosswalk.com: Gentleness in a Harsh World,” which is based off of the Bible verse Philippians 4:3, “Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.” Click on this link to read more https://www.crosswalk.com/devotionals/crosswalk-devo/gentleness-in-a-harsh-world-the-crosswalk-devotional.html --Jacob
Chapel on April 25
On Friday, Dylan Yelton from Sagrada Scholarship Bible Camp spoke at CCA Chapel. He shared what students learn when attending camp in the summer. Students receive a Bible and they are taught how to find verses and memorize scripture. Dylan asked CCA students if they would stand up and say a scripture verse with the Bible reference for a candy bar? Cooper, Cason, Isai and Caroline volunteered.
It's important for us to memorize scripture. As a Christian, we need to be able to resist temptation. If we don't have access to a Bible, we need to be able to share verses with others. We go through difficult things because life is hard, and sometimes we grieve and we need Jesus and scripture to get us through. Psalm 119 was a verse that Dylan referenced, particularly verse 16 that says I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word. How do we grow as believers? By reading the Bible, memorizing His words and praying.
CCA students received bookmarks that have the names of students who attended camp last year on them. Students were asked to pray over those students. Most of them only hear about Jesus at camp because their lives are hard and most are unable to freely worship the Lord. Dylan closed in prayer and the school song was sang by students. --Lilly
