We love to celebrate birthdays at Northridge! While we do not celebrate with treats (primarily due to health concerns), each child will be celebrated by having their name read during the morning announcements and by getting to choose a prize from their teacher. If your child's birthday falls on a weekend or a day we are not in school we will celebrate either right before or after. Summer birthdays will be celebrated during the year.

INVITATIONS

You may pass out invitations to parties at school only if you invite the entire class (or all the girls or all the boys). If you have invitations for individual children and not everyone in the class, please deliver outside of class.

Back To School Carnival: Thank You NRE Community!

Thank you to everyone who came out to the Back To School Carnival! What a fun and awesome night! We were bummed to have to call the evening early, but so thankful that the weather held out for most of the evening and most importantly that everyone made it out of there safely at the end of the night. PTO is incredibly thankful to all the volunteers that helped through the evening and for those who helped to clean up the event quickly to help keep everyone safe at the end of the night. We will see you at the next PTO event: Coldstone Teacher Scoops! Don’t miss it!

Thank you Colorado Rockies!

PTO has given away over 800 Rockies tickets to the NRE community this season! We are incredibly thankful to the Rockies organization for providing our community with these tickets. There are a few remaining tickets for September games. Email PTOpresidentNRE@gmail.com if you’d like to pick up any of the remaining tickets!

Upcoming Events

Coldstone: Teacher Scoops

Join us at Coldstone on September 2 from 4:00-7:00pm for a fun NRE community night. Several teachers will be scooping ice cream for us and Coldstone generously donates a portion of the proceeds back to NRE. See the flier below for the schedule of teachers who will be scooping!

Fun Run is Coming!

Sign up TODAY for the NRE Fun Run on September 10th! Support the largest fundraiser of the year that will put resources right back in the classrooms. There are tons of great incentives to earn too! Check out the flyer below.

PTO General Assembly Meeting

ALL are invited to attend the first PTO meeting of the school year. Come see what PTO is all about! The meeting will take place in the NRE Library on September 12 from 8:45-10:15. Little ones are welcome to tag along and you are free to come and go if you aren’t able to attend the whole meeting. Bring a friend and enjoy free snacks!

Winter Coat & Halloween Costume Drive

Bring your unneeded winter gear (jackets, gloves, hats, boots, etc.) to NRE starting Friday, September 12. We will have bins in the front lobby to drop off things you no longer need. Also, take a look in the bins for anything you might need! Consider it a swap - give what you don’t need and take what you do need! You do not have to make a donation to take something you need. We want to make sure all NRE kiddos have warm gear this winter!

New this year - we will also collect unneeded Halloween costumes. If you see one in the bin that you can use, please take it!

The Coat & Costume Swap will end on Friday, September 26.

Multicultural Night

One of the most special nights of the year - NRE Multicultural Night - will be on Friday, October 3 from 5:00-7:00pm. NRE families host booths to help us celebrate the diverse cultures represented in our school. Would you like to host a booth and showcase your culture? Reach out to Tiffany Malone at tiffanykmalone@gmail.com to reserve your booth or ask questions!

Booth Ideas:

  • Cultural Booths: Traditional clothing, art, or historical artifacts
  • Interactive Activities: Host a craft project, game, or storytelling sessions
  • Global Cuisine: Small samples of cultural foods - candy, food item or drink

Additionally - the evening will be filled with performances by kids from NRE! If your child would like to share a performance with our community, please email tiffanykmalone@gmail.com for more information.

Restaurant Nights

Local restaurants host “spirit nights” where a designated portion of the proceeds from your order will be generously donated back to NRE PTO. All you have to do is mention NRE when ordering. It’s a win-win-win: you get a night off from making dinner (or treats), local restaurants get our business, and PTO receives a donation! Stay tuned for more dates - we are adding more to the calendar all the time!

9/2/25: Qdoba - Dorchester location - 4:00pm-8:00pm

9/2/25: Coldstone Teacher Scoops Night - 4:00-7:00pm

9/11/25: Fujiyama

9/12/25: Desert Donuts

9/16/25: Arby's

9/30/25: Mici

Principal Letter Principal Letter

Dear Northridge Families,

It's been another busy and exciting week at NRE!

Academic Check-in and Growth 📈

We've officially kicked off our iReady testing! Our teachers are now using this valuable data to create small, differentiated learning groups and tailor instruction to best meet the individual needs of all our students. This data helps us make sure every child is getting the specific support they need to grow and succeed.

Watch D.O.G.S. and Community 🐾

The kick-off for our Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) program was a huge success! We had so many male role models show interest in volunteering their time, and we're excited to see them around the school. Thank you all for stepping up and being such a positive presence for our kids. If you are interested and couldn't attend this week, see the link in the weekly blast to sign up!

Safety First & School Spirit 🚨

We had our first fire drill today, and the kids did a fantastic job of evacuating the building safely. They were the quietest I have ever heard them, which is so important during an emergency. We're proud of how seriously they took the drill!

We also like to have a lot of fun here at NRE! A huge thank you to Ms. Crawford for suggesting "Fanatic Friday", where staff wear clothing to support their favorite teams. It was fun to see so many teachers join in today, and we encourage students to join in the fun starting next Friday!

Upcoming Fun & Important Dates 🎉

Mark your calendars! Our Cold Stone Ice Cream Night is coming up on Tuesday, September 2nd. Our teachers will be getting behind the counter to scoop your favorite cold treats. It's always a lot of fun, and Cold Stone gives a portion of the proceeds back to our wonderful PTO. We hope to see you there!

As always, thank you for being such a wonderful part of the NRE community! I hope everyone has a safe holiday weekend!

Smiles, Erin Lehnert
