Good Afternoon Sunrise Families,

We’re looking forward to connecting with families during Parent-Teacher Conferences on November 20th, 25th, and 26th. Conferences are a great opportunity to discuss your child’s progress and celebrate their growth so far this school year. Families can sign up through ParentVUE by following these steps:

Log in to your ParentVUE account.
Select your student’s name.
Click on the “Conference” tab.
Choose your preferred date and time, then click “Schedule”.
If you need help accessing ParentVUE or scheduling your conference, please contact the school office for assistance. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Next Tuesday, our fifth-grade students will represent Sunrise River Elementary as they travel to the high school to lead this year’s Veterans Day Program, honoring the brave men and women who have served our country. Fifth-grade families are invited to attend this special event in person. The program will also be live streamed on our district website and shown in classrooms so all Sunrise students can take part in learning how to honor and show gratitude to our veterans on this important day.

Our school will be hosting the Minnesota School Sealant Program, where your child has the opportunity to receive FREE or reduced cost preventive dental services at school. A licensed dental professional will be offering sealants, cleanings, fluoride varnishes and x-rays to students.

The School Sealant Program will be happening on: Wednesday, December 3rd for grades 1-5.

In order to be eligible to receive these services, you need to fill out a consent form with your child's information and return it to school. www.schoolsealants.com/consentform,

The consent form is due by: Friday, November 7th.

Thank you for continuing to work with us to make parent pickup as smooth and safe as possible. As a growing school, we are reaching high numbers of families picking up students each day, and we truly appreciate your patience and cooperation. To help keep traffic moving safely and to prevent backups on Grand Avenue, we are now using TWO lanes as you pull into the loop, all the way around to the crosswalk. Once at the crosswalk, cars will alternate (every other) to cross and pick up students along the sidewalk. This will minimize the amount of cars backed up out on Grand Ave. We are also asking all families that choose the walk up method to park in the center visitor lot to keep all traffic moving in the same direction.

Your continued understanding and teamwork make a big difference in keeping this process safe and efficient for everyone. Thank you for helping us ensure a smooth dismissal for our students and community.

With the school year underway, we want to share potential employment opportunities at Sunrise River School. If you like working with kids and are looking for a position that gives you the freedom of a schedule that coordinates with your child’s school day, we would love to provide you with more details. We have quite a few parents (and former Sunrise parents) who work here and have found it a fun and rewarding place to work.

Lunchroom or Recess Assistant Substitutes
We are also looking for Substitute Teachers to join our school! We have openings every few days, and this can provide a very flexible schedule for you. If you are interested in a sub teacher, please reply to this message at anytime.

This year NBAPS is allowing for a new way families can report an absence. The NEW feature is located within your ParentVue account under the attendance tab.

When in the attendance tab there is a link to Report Absences. - CLICK HERE to learn how!

Once you have clicked this link you will open a window that allows you to select a date or date range to report a student's absence. You will have multiple options for the excused or unexcused absence, select the one that best fits your absence. There is also a location to put in any additional notes you would like to include with your absence type. Once you have completed this you can then select Save.

AM - Youth Connections is fee-based childcare located at the Education Center. Youth Connections opens at 5:45 am. Sunrise students will take a bus to Sunrise to start the school day.
PM - Students attending Youth Connections will receive a pass at the end of the school day, and be bused to the Education Center after school. Youth Connections staff is open until 6 pm.
