KEY NEWS FOR EXPLORER FAMILIES
The end of the school year celebrations and events have started. This week we had our annual staff vs. 5th grade kickball game. The fifth graders had many stellar plays, but our staff remains undefeated. We had our last SGC meeting of the school year where we thanked exiting members and welcomed the new ones. The Centennial High School senior class of 2026 were greeted with cheers when they returned to Northwood to walk the halls one more time. The Talent Show, led by Ms. Sickle, Ms. Miller, Mrs. Nelson, and Mrs. Imhulse, was a resounding success! Our Explorers showcased very bright talents! Our chorus wowed the school with their end-of-year concert under the direction of Mrs. Dahl. And today Mr. Pearch, Mr. Konigsberg and team rounded out the week with Field Day! The music, water games, and unique Field Day stations were all a big hit!
Enjoy the last weekend before school is out for the summer!
Fondly,
Heather Rucker, principal
FIRST GRADE EXPLORERS
First grade has had a blast with animals this week! We had so much fun using our knowledge on animal habitats to create our animal dioramas. We also got to experience baby chicks hatch in our classroom. First grade loved the hands-on, interactive science activities as we end the school year!
FOURTH GRADE EXPLORERS
We are so proud of all the hard work our students have put in this year! These 4th graders have shown incredible growth all year long and finished strong on their end of year testing. We held a read-a-lawn to help celebrate their accomplishments and enjoy our beautiful campus! Students had a snack and read books on blankets with friends. We can't wait to keep celebrating with other fun end of year events!
Congratuations Jo Ann Lewis (Kindergarten Paraprofessional) and Vicki Corich (Occupational Therapist) on their retirement from Fulton County Schools! We appreciate the time, talent and love you have poured into our students; and wish you a very happy retirement!
NORTHWOOD MONTHLY AWARDS - APRIL AND MAY
Awards are one of the many wonderful ways we have to recognize and celebrate our Explorers at Northwood. Please see the attachment below for March and April's award recipients. Congratulations!
Please remember to pick up any medication that your child has in the clinic by noon on Friday, May 22. Any medication (prescription and non-prescription) left in the clinic will be discarded. New medications with new Medication Authorization forms and/or Heath Care Plans need to be completed every school year. These forms are available in the clinic and on the school website.
MEDIA CENTER BOOK RETURN
The end of the school year is just around the corner. Please start to look at your house, in your cars, and backpacks for loved library books! All books are due now. Thank you for supporting our Media Center and our love for reading this year!
ALL IN ON ATTENDANCE - FINISH THE YEAR STRONG
The school year isn’t over yet! Every day matters for review, projects, and preparing for the next grade level. Students with strong May attendance are more likely to retain skills over the
summer. The late bell rings at 7:40am. Students should be in their classroom ready to learn at that time. Please email northwoodattendance@fultonschools.org and copy your child’s teacher when your child is absent.

AVID GOAL OF THE WEEK
Northwood is proud to be an AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) school. AVID Elementary equips students with the foundational skills and mindset needed for future success. Our staff is focused on enhancing instructional consistency, fostering a college and career readiness mindset, increasing student engagement and building organizational and study skills.
As part of this, each week Northwood will be focused on one goal as a school. Be sure to ask your child about it!
Next week's AVID goal is: to live life to the fullest and have a great attitude.
INFINITE CAMPUS CENSUS UPDATE
Beginning April 1, families can complete census verification through Infinite Campus Online Registration. Fulton County Schools requires families to review and update their emergency contact information each year. For safety and security purposes, we ask that all updates be completed prior to the start of the upcoming school year.

CAFETERIA NEWS
FULTON COUNTY SCHOOLS SERVES FREE SUMMER MEALS
The Fulton County School Nutrition Program recognizes the vital role that school meals play in combating childhood hunger. To meet the needs of our students & children in the community, the School Nutrition Program will continue to provide nutritious meals across the county as part of its annual Summer Meals Program.
Students attending face-to-face Summer School or Pre-K will be offered free breakfast and lunch meals during their school’s scheduled mealtimes.
The Fulton County School Nutrition Program will also provide meal service for children in the community. Children 18 and under, and those under 21 with special needs, can enjoy a delicious meal daily during the designated times and locations available at nutrition.fultonschools.org/Summer. Meals are FREE for all children in the community. Children do not need to be enrolled in Fulton County Schools to participate.
NEW CAFETERIA PRINCIPAL ACCOUNT FUND
This year, with the new lunch system, our school community has the capability to create a Cafeteria Principal Account Fund. This account would be used to fulfill any meal costs for students that reach an account balance of zero. We often have families and extended family members that ask if or how they can pay off lunch balances or support our students in this way, now the process of doing so is easy!
Should you be interested in adding to the Cafeteria Principal Account Fund, just send a check or cash to school in an envelope to Ms. Cristhal Austin, our cafeteria manager in training, and notate that the funds go to the Principal Fund. Please reach out to Ms. Austin, austinc4@fultonschools.org, if you have any questions.

The Infinite Campus Parent Portal provides quick and easy access to information for all enrolled students in their household.
